We've been going out the past couple of months and I've never been so happy Then this morning she CALLS ME to tell me she doesn't want to date anymore, that she isn't in the right place in her life for a relationship. Shes 24 and out of college now..I really don't see it. It was basically the old "its not you, its me(but really, its you)" heave ho.. She also said she just doesn't like me "that way" and that we can't be any more than friends..ever. Gee, I feel like Adam Sandler in The Wedding Singer. You know, that information would have a lot more useful A FEW WEEKS AGO. As you all well know I'm very shy, I went through a big crush in H.S. and was harsly rejected and I had a difficult time getting over it. Am I overlysensitive? Perhaps, but 'tis the way I am. It was really hard for me to muster up the balls to be this open with this girl and pursue her, and for her to respond in kind and then a few weeks later be like "oh I didn't really feel that way" is ****ing cruel. What a psycho. I had to vent and well I don't have friends to go to and I don't think my family would understand.

If you really want revenge on her....give her name and number to JAL and tell him she wants to meet him.

I know perspective wise, it's a "big" thing to you because I'm guessing this was your 1st serious relationship.

Long story short, you will get over it especially when you've been with someone for longer and you look back at your 1st 3 month as more trivial and character building.

I'm 19, and no we aren't. Yes, I have two years(I'm going for a two year degree) to go. However we really aren't in very different places, not like you'd think. She, like me, lives with her parents, has no car, and doesn't work currently(shes looking for a job in advertising).

She should be somewhat established right now.

Maybe she should be, but shes not in the least, apart from her degree. She seems behind in other ways.

Yes, but shes never had a boyfriend. It was a first relationship for both of us. Shes not a looker, and she is somewhat strange. Shes not shy like me really, but shes anti-social. She just doesn't like to go out and socialise much.

There's really nothing I can say. Practically, I would say "Mope intensely for a short period of time to get it out of your system, then get out of your funk and find someone new", but you'd percieve that as me writing your relationship off as one in a series of trysts. No one wants to think of relationships as one after another.

Everyone wants it to be somehow "epic".

Not very practical.

I am seriously disappointed with how this turned out. How could she date me for a couple of months if she doesn't like me as more than a friend?

Man, and like I said, really thought I was doing well dating a 24-year-old. She turned out to be as immature, inconsiderate and flighty as any 19 year old I could have dated.

I've known some perfectly sane ones at 16. Admittedly, they're a rare breed, but it's less a gender thing than an age thing. How many completely sane male teenagers do you know?
