My nephew physically assaulted me.

No, I had already spoken to the cops already and let them know fully what I wanted. However, since I'm not the homeowner, I didn't have the power to actually lay charges.

So if I go in someones house and kick the ass of one of the residents, the homeowner is the only one who can lay charges?

the rest of you.... carry on.

Hit. the. ****er. back.

If you were the only people in the house, no one is calling the cops since everyone in the house (you and your nephew) are too busy fighting to pick up the phone.

It's not that hard to grasp

My parents were also in the house and if I had started swinging, my mom would have called the cops and laid charges against me.

Other than the fact that Canadian law is bizzare... the person assaulted doesn't have the right to press charges, and can be over-ridden by the homeowner? What if the homeowner was the one doing the assaulting... for example, a man beats his wife and he's the homeowner (her name isn't not the deed or mortgage)? It's an assault against a person not the home.

Anyway... aside from the bewildering nature of Canadian law... I really am speechless.

You should have held him. Until his hits became softer and softer til you tumbled holding each other as you cried.

He outweighs me by about 70 pounds, so there would have been no tumbling.

How much softer can one hit than wet spaghetti?

So if you hit him mommy calls the cops but he hits you and she doesn't? Must suck to know that no one, not even your own mother, likes you.

So the disloyal peice of **** disease runs throughout your entire family, huh?

Why the hell didn't you just kick his ass then, and tell him "look, you can call the cops if you want to, but know you're the one who hit me first and you're gonna go down with me if you do". I bet considering you'd just kicked his ass anyway, he wouldn't call the cops on you thusly you wouldn't have to worry about the buisness thing.

But either you're too much of a ***** or a dumbass to figure out you could have done that.

Well, according to Jonty, his mom would've had to lay charges on him even if his nephew did call the cops. His mom wouldn't lay charges on her own son for a fist fight, so his whole argument of not wanting to risk a criminal record is thrown out the window.

Where are you from?

I would have if it wasn't for Canadian law.

So what you're saying is that if you'd hit back, your mom would have pressed charges against you, but not your nephew?

I was talking about alternatives to calling the police. You didn't call the police to stop him from hitting you... you called the police after he had already stopped. The police did nothing. Since they did nothing, then obviously it was the wrong decision to get them involved.

Again, you didn't suggest any alternatives.

This thread is gonna haunt him, like anytime he tries to argue or debate something with someone all someone has to do is pull up the link to this. No explination or anything just the link.

Not really. This thread is going to put me over 24,000 if I respond to everything.

I wish I could be cool enough to have 24,000 posts!

What kind of backwards Canadian law is that?

Mommy won't buy a lock for your door? Well, then, that makes sense; calling the cops really was the only reasonable course of action.

I have a lock, but who's expecting to get attacked unexpectedly in their own home by somebody who lives here?
