The fact that he's got the punching power of wet spaghetti is beside the point.

I asked him to help me move a freezer outside and he refused. As a result, I had to do it myself (it's a small freezer) and his indoor cat got outside because I had to keep the door open for the freezer. I told him his cat got outside and I went to my room.

He couldn't get the cat inside, so he came to my room and started physically assaulting me. I didn't hit him, just defended myself. I called the cops and I am planning to charge him with assault if the cops see warrant to do so.

Nobody should have to tolerate physical abuse, ever.

Make him pay you, if not.

Press charges on his ass.

dont see the relevance. you got slapped by your nephew, and in some deperate attempt to garner attention (what did you think, that people would think "wow, what an upstanding, law abiding guy"), posted it on the interweb.
If i were you , assuming the exact same circumstances, i would have waitied till the 'rents were out, then stuck his head down the loo and flushed it. Or taken a dump in one of his socks and tucked it right at the back of his sock drawer. i would have done something, not called the police and said "my nephew hit me. arrest and charge him".Im surprised they didnt laugh in your face.
I'll lay good money you are now (if you already weren't) the laughing stock at your local cop shop. new recruits , fresh from the acadamey, get told of the guy who would not slap back his ickle nephew, but instead stood around like an OTT mincing queen and insisted they charge him.

Either you are intentially or ignorantly giving false information.

By your statement if I went over to your house and raped you, you would not be able to press charges and only the owner of the residential/commercial building could decide on pressing charges.

Similiar scenario if I know someone who owns a house, and I bring you over to his house. Once there I can beat the **** out of you and you coudn't touch me because it was my friend's house and he chose not to press charges.

It's the "victim's" choice to decide whether or not to press charges, or if underage, parent or legal guardian can do as well.

I am not a lawyer but I am a Canadian and laws typically follow the same guidelines throughout the provinces and states.

If the officer told you this, it was probably because IT WAS a waste of their time from your claim of abuse (since there wasn't anything sufficient), and they didn't see any need to investigate further so they gave the decision of the property owner to decide whether or not they want to press charges. More than likely a disturbing the peace claim or something like that.

Who's taking it seriously? I was just commenting on a few things that he keeps bringing up which are full of errors. And his claim is because it's Canadian laws and it's flaws in the system is of course simply, Bull****.

Either they did that, or they told him to basically buzz off and stop wasting their time, and then he changed the story to suit him better....

Because this whole "only the land owner can press charges" does not make any sense....I think I am going to ask my brother-in-law who is a lawyer...he should be able to clarify the issue...
