Ian Somerhalder

Umm no. This guy is just an ok actor and he doesn't look like he could throw down at all, and he certainly doesn't have the presence of size for namor. I think this guy is like 5'8.

Heights no big deal and after Bale going from The Machinist to Batman Begins neither is size. :p Namor doesn't need to be large or imposing. Just average height. and well built. He doesn't have to be The Rock.

I'm gonna assume Universal lost the rights to Marvel. They can't just hold them forever and per Marvel 4 years is the maximum allowed under any contracts. Uni has had these rights too long. They'll slip back to Marvel and Namor will be added to the Merrill facility like The Hulk and Iron Man. Maybe we'll get a Defenders movie someday.
If it did reveryt back to marvel. they could use him in a Future FF movie and then give him a solo movie later.

Somerhalder would have no problem as Namor - a good work-out regime, personal trainer and a good nutritionist will sort out the size issue - just as it has for other actors who've been required to bulk up for roles (look at the cover of Muscle and Fitness to see that he has the capacity to bulk up)

Height wise I'm unconcerned as when you get down to it, that can be manipulated on screen so that his 5'8'' or whatever isn't that noticable.

The main thing is that the guy can act and is actually (facially) one of the closest similiarities to Namor who is out there.

If only Leonard Nimoy was 40 years younger, he'd be the perfect Namor.

Mario Lopez looks the part. Too bad he has Saved by the Bell hanging over his career. That role will haunt him as he tries to get new ones. LOL

Mario Lopez? When has Slater ever been right or any part in a major motion picture?

And I love your username..............personally, though - I prefer Pringle. ;)

Jason Isaacs. Man, he wouldn't even need to have makeup.

He's a little old...
I still want Ian Summerholder!

Ian is okay if Namor is about his younger self or planning to have sequels.

I like to view Namor as a one movie shot only, and the most charismatic and Namor-like is Jason Isaacs. Especially if they do it like Atlantis "King and I".

"300" and "Lost"'s Rodrigo Santoro for SUB-MARINER all the way. He's just a bit exotic/alien enough to play him without looking too wierd or gay. With those diva eyebrows that Sub-Mariner has, Rodrigo pulled it off as tough and intimidating in "300," instead of a flamboyant, flaming diva. Isn't his Xerxes character from "300" similar to Sub-Mariner - a half-naked, intimidating, stubbern king?

Furthermore, some actors just don't work as leading men for cinema. It's one thing for leading men in TV, but that doesn't mean they translate will to the big screen (David Caruso).

David Boeanaz is a non-charasmaic, boring, dull TV actor. And looks-wise, he's too ogrish to play Submariner.

I'm all for wrestlers as leading men in movies more than TV actors, such as The Rock and Batista, but they just aren't as graceful enough to be Sub-Mariner. A lot of super-heroes do have a wrestler personality, but not Sub-Mariner.

Out of all the current Asian or Asian-American actors, none should play him because they either can't act (Donnie Yen, Marc Dacascos, Jason Scott Lee) or have no presence for film (Nelsen Lee). The ones that deserve super-hero roles,Jet Li or Chow-Yun, just don't fit as Sub-mariner.

A good Asian actor? How about Takeshi Kaneshiro?

Rodrigo Santoro would def be good but Ian still gets my vote

The Rock is a wrestler. That's it. He can't act. I think he's also too old for what they're planning w/Namor.
