Fox is making good on its holding deal with Nasim Pedrad.
The network has greenlit Chad: An American Boy, a live-action single-camera comedy pilot written by and starring the Mulaney and Saturday Night Live alum.
Pedrad will star as a 14-year-old boy in the throes of adolescence who is tasked with being the man of the house, which leaves him with all the responsibilities of being an adult without any of the perks.
Pedrad will pen the script alongside Rob Rosell (New Girl, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia). 3 Arts' Michael Rotenberg and Dave Becky as well as Jason Winer will exec produce, with the latter on board to direct the 20th Century Fox Television pilot.
"I'm thrilled to be able to portray a Middle Eastern family not working for or against Jack Bauer on network TV, Pedrad said. Also, a big thank you to Fox for understanding that my true essence is that of an awkward and misguided 14-year-old boy."
