This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Now I'm even more excited to see what direction this movie is going in!

Nice! A much better fit than Sif for Portman

I imagine she'll care for Thor after he's banished to Earth, or something along those lines

Hmm. Blake's nurse. There's certainly a history there that leads to fleshing out the Thor/Blake dynamic. I'm intrigued to see where this is all going, specific to plot.

...and I love Nat.

I like Portman as an actress, and I'm glad she is not Sif. Jane Foster is an excellent role for her, and her name adds some star power and credibility, to what could potentially be a tough sell in Thor.

I'm stoked, now all I want to know is who will be Sif?

The other question is will Sif still be in this at all, or will they want to stick to one love interest?

I suppose it would depend on how much Asgard we get, but I'll be a little peeved if there's not at least a Sif cameo before Odin casts Thor out.

I guess these means if Biel's in she will be Sif.

^A role that suits her IMO. But if the Biel rumor is true, than Sif will be in and have some decent amount of screen time, likely before Thor's banishment.

So, this does mean we'll be getting Donald Blake, yes?

Feige said we wouldn't be

Foster could care for Thor after he's banished and (presumably) wounded. Blake doesn't necessarily have to be in it for Foster to be

The press release DID say the character would be updated, after all

Uhm, it's a good choice but is too young for the Jane Foster role. For me...

Dueling casting hype for two superhero movies filming the same month!

Weird that Natalie Portman will probably be getting a lot of press for a, while not minor, I doubt is more than cardboard superhero dynamic.

Nice choice. She's very talented. And also brings some much needed star power for the film.

Since Kevin Feige said there won't be a Donald Blake, I've got a theory for Jane Foster's role in the film: once banished to Earth, Thor will be considered insane and will go to some mental institution. Guess who's gonna be his nurse... :cwink:

Eh... I've never really been a fan of the "Thor is insane" route. I imagine it'll be something more along the lines of: he's used to being nigh-invincible and gets his ass kicked, and winds up in a hospital, where his nurse is Jane Foster.

cool. I've loved Natalie Portman since the first time I saw her on screen.

Or Feige is lying.
