NBC's ''Timeless''

I wish American networks would or could stop worrying about live numbers. I dont watch shows live. I work second shift and can't watch live during the work week. Even if I could watch shows live I wouldnt, because I pay for a dvr and I'm going to use it. Advertisers can just kindly **** off.

In this age of "Peak TV" it seems irrational to place such importance on live numbers.

they know everyone fast forwards the commercials when the DVR so the ad companies wont pay as much for screen time if no one is watching them

and that money goes towards production costs et al

But there is no guarantee live viewers are watching the commercials or paying attention. People use commercial breaks to get food, go to the bathroom, browse the internet etc. They also dont know whether live viewers are pausing the dvr during live viewing and then fast forwarding through a commercial to get back to live viewing. Even if they interview people they don't know whether the people are being honest about it.

The only thing they can really be sure of is no matter how people watch a show they dont want commercials intruding.

If networks won't cut the cord with advertisers and commercials I would love for all the basic networks to not give companies and advertisers any choice. Get rid of advertising during shows and only sell advertising space in between shows. Have 10 - 15 minute blocks in between shows.

The networks have to have some sort of income to have the money to produce and air the shows. If not advertisers then where do they get the money? Charge to watch the shows? The alternative is something like Netflix where you buy the service and watch the shows. But when CBS decided to go that route with the new Star Trek series people screamed to high heaven about having to pay for that. So where do you propose the networks get the money to produce and air the shows if not advertisers?

Because their streaming service is online (doesn't have an app for other platforms) and because their streaming service has commercials and because lots of people already have CBS through their cable provider and because CBS's streaming service only offers CBS programs, the majority of which viewers can already watch with their cable subscription.

Netflix doesn't split their programs across multiple platforms and charge customers for each platform. Netflix also doesn't have commercials. Netflix also offers movies from various studios, tv shows from multiple networks, documentaries, comedy specials from various comedians, foreign films etc.

If these networks want to go the premium cable route or Netflix route and charge a single subscription fee, get rid of the commercials, and allow subscribers to use all CBS platforms and watch all their programs for that single subscription fee I'd be interested in that.

I don't watch any shows live, since they would air right in the middle of the night for me as I'm in the UK.

And even if I do watch any live TV that happens to be on in the evening (and also only in the summer months when all the shows have gone on break), I usually turn the sound off during the commercials or don't pay attention. I will only turn the sound on again if something happens to catch my eye and I'm actually looking at the TV at the time instead of doing something else.

If you aren't a Nielsen member, it doesn't matter how you watch the show. You don't count anyways. Feel free to DVR it. You aren't hurting the show any.

William Shatner and Leslie Jones live-tweeting tonight.

OK, why didn't they burn down Emma's cabin?

Does it really make sense to just leave a cabin out in the woods with laptop pieces and DVDs and all kinds of 2010 tech in it? Eventually someone is going to find it.

Lucy taking out Jesse James was a surprise, I love a good western and last nights ep used the period well, it had the old Eastwood influence. Good to see Annie Wersching added to the cast as well.

Is Shatner going to be on the show or something?

God I hope so.

Really dug this episode too. I'm enjoying that they're expanding to mixing up historic characters that may not have encountered each other otherwise.

Don't ruin this for me, America.

He just live tweets genre shows occasionally. He's done it a bunch of times for Supernatural.

Lucy performing the killing was interesting. at least she kept it historical in that she shot him in the back. I really liked the Lone Ranger too. He was a pretty cool character.
i kinda got my wish about seeing them back in the real world, even though it was very brief.

i dont know why it never crossed my mind that there might've been other pilots in the program. i definitely would've tried to take back some of the stuff in the cabin to study it. that laptop could've had some good intel possibly

Well why didn't Flynn take any of it? He wasn't under attack. You'd think he would want any Intel on Rittenhouse.

Reddit is like posting in a wilderness with no sense of direction or organisation. It's is also the kind of place that Abigail Spencer would probably, while responding to comments, accidentally find more of her leaked nude videos surfacing there and would embarrass her.

Do people in the film business actually even know about sites like this one?

All the changes they're making in the past should have a much more noticable impact on the present, as it did with Lucy's sister.

we don't know for sure that he didn't yet, nor do we know if the woman did either

that's part of the reason i want to see more in the present tense. i want to see how these changes are spiraling outward.
we know the Hindenberg change resulted in Lucy's sister never being born. despite his attempts during the A-bomb episode, Wyatt still couldn't save his wife.
i really thought they might go back to the storyline about the woman who memorized the Rittenhouse roster, or at least that we'd see more about her again, but that dropped too

Glad Annie Wersching is in this. I've had a crush on her since '24'.

How can they possibly steal the timeship without Mason Industries or Rittenhouse knowing?

And is there going to be some point at which the trio break away from Mason Industries and go on their own missions?
