New Constantine Movie?

I loved the first one, I think Keanu was great in it (ok, so he wasnt british or blonde, but that's not really ALL important to the character...as long as the guys an a**hole who's more interested in his own well being than anything else, and knows some magic, he's constantine)...I hope they introduce Swamp Thing in this one, and then we get a spin off...a sort of reversal of how it was in the comics :o

To be honest, they should have called the film something else really. In Hellblazer, he hardly ever uses magic or violence, it's all in the bull****ting his way out of things, and that's his strength. Not sure about other people, but the british mentality is very key there, as there's hundreds of cultural observations and references.

Saying he hardly uses magic isnt REALLY accurate...I have several of the old Ennis trades, and he uses magic at least once or twice in each of them.

If you go from "original sins", he doesn't use magic once in the entire arc, and it's the perfect typical bit of constantine.

How does he avoid death? Not magic, but trickery and stuff!

The movie is a butchery of Dangerous Habits especially sicne it conformed satan into the christian version of satan :(

yeah constantine WAS british in the comics, and the producers of the movie tried to get that to stay. But of course, no studio was willing to finance it, so they moved the location of the script to america.

Still, Ive never read the comics, so I get to appreaciate the movie as a stand alone piece, and I thought it was pretty cool. Looking forward to a sequel but Im sure I read that Keanu said there was little chance of this going ahead despite his interest. Are you sure that article isnt like a year old or something? Ill have to look at it first of course!

Lol yeah its from November 2006. Production on Constantine 2 never got of the ground. More recent comments from Keanu make it sound like its not very likely to happen.

Its a shame that this probably won't happen, kindof like sin city 2(will happen, but might be awhile). I really enjoyed the dark feel of the movie. I thought Reeves did the role pretty good, and brought some attitude to the role.
I never read any Hellblazer comics,so I'm all not that familiar with Constantines powers or abilities. I knew he was british and stuff, and it does change a little view of movie with main character not being true to comics. Would the 'british accent' be a issue? maybe, maybe not..Hollywood never really follows stuff to the tee,its all about what actor is on a role, who they think ppl would want to see. Reeves was just coming off of 'Matrix series' and he was the 'one'..Not sure when he got the role, during, before, after the matrix stuff...
I think if they did Constatine after Casino Roayale, we might of seen Daniel Craig be constantine??? I could see him do it,though I really didn't care for Casino Royale. Daniel has that swagger about him as well..
Anywho, I hope we see a sequel soon.

i loved the first one.

keanu reeves was great.
i hope he comes back

Poach Chris Hemsworth from Marvel lol.

Dan Stevens wouldn't be bad though he doesnt seem to have much personality.

Joseph Morgan would also be great I feel. He has the look and the charisma. Deserves to be bigger than he is.

Rumor Suggests J.J. Abrams is Developing a New ‘Constantine’ Film for Warner Bros.

Putting aside any doubts about the legitimacy of this info, lets ask ourselves... Who are your casting choices and why are they not Charlie Hunnam or Dan Stevens?

I'm sticking with Matt Ryan, he's voiced the DCAU Constantine as well as portrayed Constantine in the live action shows, so he's got the character down.

I met him when he was down here a couple of years ago. Really nice guy - probably because he's Welsh.

As for Charlie Hunnam..... not a great actor. He does a terrible English accent, which is a bad sign because he is English.

Dan Steven's, a very generic not quite leading man English actor.

Great as he is, it’s not gonna be Matt Ryan. If Bad Robot really is doing this, they’re not going to want to be saddled with all the baggage of the Arrowverse. They’ll want their own fresh take.

Reeves would be fun in something multiverse-spanning like Flash seems to be, but I really doubt they do a sequel to that film 15 years after the fact, even if Keanu is experiencing a Renaissance.

Ahhhh ****. Why did it have to be Abrams?

It couldn't have been just ****ing ANYONE else?

Ugh.

This character will never get the adaptation he deserves, I guess...

Abrams is awesome, he doesn’t seem like a good fit for this though. Thankfully he’s just apparently producing. He should be directing Justice League or Superman.

The Abrams whining is still going in full force, I see...

It’s just his company, calm down.
