New DTL Recruitment Thread

Season 4 we cut short and moved right into the playoffs to finish.

6 just died away.

I really think I want to play but I don't want to be one of those people who say I can and end up not doing much due to time restraints. Sucks not knowing my own availability. I hate the idea of sharing a team though :)

The way I'm seeing the season play out, with 8 teams, is that we play everyone once. So that's 7 weeks. We'll take a week off in the middle if needed. A week off before the playoffs, and two weeks of playoffs.

That's 11 weeks tops, with 2 weeks off for rest if we need it. It might go a little longer if we run into the holidays since we grant extra time for those.

If we have more than 8 teams, it might add a couple of weeks. But I'll try to keep it limited to 3 months (including breaks). So I'd guess we'd wrap up the season sometime after New Years.

Man, after 3 seasons of Contest of Marvels that feels like nothing!

Well hello again. :) I'm going to consider it. I haven't been reading my comcis like I used to and I think my inspiration might be limited. Not to mention that you know, I enjoy the creative side of it, thinking of strategies, writing the story, but I don't enjoy the combative side of it. Like arguing over every little detail, the last beating Aristotle gave me kinda took the fun out of the whole thing for me. Of course, it has nothing to do with the system itself, but rather the oponents you face. :)

So yeah, I'll consider it.

Would it be possible to not go along with the draft and assemble a team afterwards?

Why don't you do the draft and then change tons of it afterwards? That way you might still get a few top players in the process.

Well, that's why this season we're going to try focusing on battling over arguing.

How would that not be fair? Everybody does the draft, so it's not like you're getting an advantage over anybody.
While it's still random, I'd be vying for, say, four characters, while everybody else is going for the full twelve (considering I'd be switching a good number out almost immediately anyway). I've already got a bit of my team figured out and I'm willing to take the gamble nobody will pick these guys.

Potentially, I could end up hogging some top-level characters.

If you're dropping them anyway, provided your characters in mind are still available, what's the problem?

Maybe we should go with 3 mini-drafts for Ubers, Med's Regs.

So we'll have a list for each (which means you'll only need your top 8 choices for Meds, for example) Gives us a little better control over drafting our teams.

You'd be screwed out the draft, wouldn't you? After switching out my characters, it'd be first come first serve for the dropped ones, yeah?

I like that idea. I say we rock that like a hurricane.

So just put the ones you do want to try and draft at the top, and a bunch of ******** characters afterward. Or, if Wieg allows it, just the ones you want and that's it.

I just remembered why we never did the draft by rankings. Because people like to have different numbers of characters in each rank.

You know what. Last season, to give the draft some more weight, and expose players to other characters, I think we locked the teams for the first week. It made sure people made their draft lists count.

So, can I just skip the draft and then make due with what I can assemble?

Had a crazy idea for a theme: Amalgam week.

And it has nothing to do with the Amalgam universe.

I haven't thought about any real details, and it may turn out to be more trouble than it's worth. But the basic idea is that you combine characters on your team into amalgam versions and then battle them against your opponent's amalgamized characters.

Interesting concept. What would the restrictions be? Would the characters you amalgamize have to be the same class? Or could I merge, say, Superman and Spider-Man, for instance?

Also...I take it none of the former players you PMed were interested?

Except for the Hobbit, I haven't gotten any response back yet.

At first I thought about merging only within class, but then I realized we'd be merging ubers together. Which can be iffy.

Maybe we'd restrict it to a regular, or reg/Med, only fight. And then you can Amalgam within class. So Spider-Wing and AquaVision can fight against BatDevil and the Iron Beetle.
