My guess is that bandwidth resources are being allocated according to the number of people using various websites, the money isn't there anymore, and someone is shutting S*** down.

Another board I go to just switched to Xenforo and it is having much the same issues...definite resource shifting and bot attacks. It sucks!

Interesting and good to know. Maybe there isn't some deep, dark conspiracy out there lying in wait for us. LOL

When I checked the EVOLVE website, they claim to have over 50M loyal readers. That number is bound to go down; not because people will leave, but because, with their current latencies, they can't accomodate 50M people.

All that being said, it seems to be working normally this morning......

I thought is was the 300 baud modem with the cradle you put your phone in.


EDIT: I just figured out the problem!!!! Their RS-232 interface got messed up. I think they crossed the Data Set Ready (DTR) with Clear to Send (CTS) connections.

This is what Ultron would do in real life after spending 30 seconds on the Internet, not trying to use a small country as a meteor.

Yeah. They'll pop up here and there on another IP. When I was working at UCLA, we would just blackhole IPs that were pulling S*** like that on our core routers for a couple of weeks. By that time, they had usually stopped pushing traffic. It's pretty much whack a mole work. You just have to stay on top of it.

By "bots" I assume these were AI scrapers looking for more content to steal use for their ****ty AI interactive chatbots.
