I'm much more interested in seeing what a photo-real Ninja Turtle will look like. That initial test-footage reveal should be something

Edit: other than Donny's weird drooping-beak, I actually like the design of the turtles from TMNT 2. Would be equally curious to see what they could do with modern animatronics and CGI blending. Wonder if they'll at least try a few tests with men-in-suits...

I wouldn't want them to detract too much from the look of the turtles we as fans have come to know over the years. Definitely give them smaller heads more defined beaks & hopefully they won't look as rubbery as the past movies. The original suits would have looked so much better if only turtle scales were designed into the suits.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking about Judith Hoag, Elias Koteas, Sam Rockwell, Ernie Reyes, Jr., or Paige Turco. But, I would have no problem with Vanilla Ice.

I wouldn't mind to see Hun in the Movie. Would be nice to have a personal enemy for Casey Jones.

They obviously won't look like anthropomorphic turtles, because the ooze gives them more human-esque features in a sense. The last couple would probably be what they'll go for. Not to sound all ad exec, but they should look somewhat cute in a sense.

I still think they looked pretty much perfect in the first two movies. Don't deviate too much from those designs. Don't make them look creepy or scary by trying to make them look realistic.

You need to market these things to kids, put them on toys, kids meals, etc. They won't look like ****ing giant red eared sliders.

they deffinately need to do practical makeup effects for the bodies and cgi for the mouths and eyelids ( but not eyes ) and finer facial expersions

I feel that cgi eyeballs lack depth

I'm with Terry. The last one is fine but the Turtles shouldn't be too grotesque looking. And I'm very anti-beak.

I guess it'll depend on what the story calls for. If the film-makers intend on them being roughly the same height/proportions as previous live-action incarnations, then it seems almost a waste of money to render four 5 1/2 foot tall turtles for, let's say, 70 minutes of screen-time out of maybe 90 or so (assuming we have scenes with just April and/or the villains).

If, on the other hand, they're going with something drastically different in height and physiology where it'd be pretty much impossible to squeeze a human into that suit or have them move in the proper manner, then CG would be fitting.

I'll trumpet the suit-with-CG-enhancement idea until we have something concrete to go on, but I'm sure if done right, either extreme (strictly practical/strictly CG) could work just fine.

Yeah, not unless it's marijuana. A lot of fan art has Raphael smoking a cigar. I don't like all of it, but I liked the skin / scale coloring. Haven't seen that before.

The three fingers don't really work in live action. Which I never understood, turtles have five "fingers".
