I can't wait to see General Shrader.

Agreed I feel once this little nugget is revealed to still be in the film the everyone will hit earth with a thud

I really really really hope I'm wrong but the whole no announcement and all the secrecy about even the characters appearance in the film screams they haven't changed him from the crappy treatment and are fearing a backlash again

in the footage where they filmed the Ralph actor moved his body like a norma human. i was hoping for some exaggerated movement. its afterall motion capture

Have you noticed he keeps on swaying back and forth? That's something.

^ Hmm, well if Michelangelo is without his surfer accent (which seems to have been revealed in a set video) I doubt Raph will have his signature Lower East accent. Which doesn't exactly appear to be canon in the comics or most of the television series anyway; looks like it stems mostly from the original films.

The new animated series has already strayed. No complaints here.

I know the original script got bad reviews and the director doesn't inspire confidence, but these set pics are getting me excited.

Everyone involved said it was an early draft and that "fan boys" have the wrong idea. At this point there are argument for "both sides". To me it really all comes down to weather you want to like the film (based on whose involved) or you want to hate it.

I think we're all ready past the point where we debate if this is going to be a huge hit(with the kids of today).

Actors swear up and down before a film is released, it's in their contract to do so. However, it's hard to look stupid when being objective.

It's already been confirmed that the actors playing Raph, Leo, Mike, and Don are playing them both in "suit" and the voices.

Ah, I was unaware of that. Though the actors will likely be redoing their dialogue for a lot of the scenes in post production. You'd be surprised how often that happens in films.

Unfortunately, I think you hit the nail right on the head. I've hated the whole "General Schraeder" angle since I first heard about it. Now I'm convinced it's gonna suck beyond everyone's worst fears.

is it me or Raphael's sais looks cheesy as hell with the red handles and the spiky ends ?? ... at least they kept the original weapons so far but I prefer the rusty old sais in TMNT 1990
who agrees with me ?? (*sorry for my bad english)

I don't mind the red handles of Raphael's sai, and they've always had spiky ends, even in the cartoon. But I do agree with you that they should have a more "used" look to them. Those ones are far too clean, they look like they just came from a martial arts supply store rather than be kept in a sewer for 15 years.

And FYI, the proper plural form of "sai" is "sai". Kinda like the word "moose", singular and plural are the same. That's actually true of most Asian words, tbh.

why would they have used weapons if this is their first adventure????

because they practiced alot with their weapons before going out on their first adventure

And while they practice a lot I am sure master splinter taught them to maintain their weapons

Those are some pretty weapons. They're much cleaner than I expected. I thought they'd have a worn, weathered look to them. They are very cool either way and I love the red handles to them.

This picture does beg the question of whether we'll see the Turtle actors have actual weapons on set or if the practicals are only for scenes where the human actors are interacting with them.
I'm sure the weapons will practical as much as possible - the less they have to worry about the better.

Yeah. The idea of a ninja not taking care of their weapons is a pretty bad one. It's one thing if this movie is after years of them doing their thing and the humidity of the sewer takes its toll after some years, but since this is more of them in the beginning, its entirely acceptable that their weapons look brand new.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. This will more than likely be their first encounter with humans and the world above, so there's probably no reason for their weapons to be "seasoned" yet.

WTF do they have the turtles hanging out in broad daylight?

Mikey, Donatello, and Leo are captured in an alley guarded off by Foot Soldiers, so bystanders either can't see them or the alley is completely guarded off (assuming that scene even takes place during the day. They can definitely alter it in post-production).

Raph's daylight outing is justified by the fact that he's in Time Square alongside costumed children's mascots like Dora the Explorer and Spongebob. So in a way he blends right in.

Daytime doesn't bother me. Either in general or in the contexts we've seen so far. An excessive amount of it, yes, that will bug me if it happens. So far? Meh.

The more day time cgi the better for me personally.
This being Weta and this particular director, I'm hoping we get District 9 like visuals.

In terms of tone and themes, looking at the prior films, there were just as many cool day time scenes as night time. Raph on the Roof, the turtles on the farm...etc.

When I heard WETA was involved with the visuals of this film, I gotta admit I was more than impressed. The work they did with Avatar and Planet of the Apes was outstanding. So I'm sure the turtles will look realistic, it all just depends on what look they're going for. And I'm sure they'll be a good mix of daylight and nighttime scenes. :)

I can't wait to see a set pic of Danny Woodburn in a motion capture suit lol

Man if this movie bombs were gonna havta wait over ten years for a better movie.

Im getting a 1998 Godzilla vibe from this movie.

Strangely enough Sam Worthington has a great look and sound for Casey and this director has worked with him before. I hope they don't go that route, but it's a possibility.

...a little too Raph.
has it been suggested that maybe he's wearing some-type of disguise in this scene (since he seems to be just walking around in public during the day) like mascot costumes?
which could also explain the antennas could be place markers for where the characters eyes of the mask are, an we're actually looking at his face through the mouth of it

In the 80's cartoon, the Turtles would wear a human mask and trench coat or snow jacket, mittens, and hat.

I could see them having Raph in a trench coat and fedora again like the first live-action movie, but I think it was said somewhere else that the people ignore him because they think he's with a parade (Dora the Explorer is in the scene).

Level of CGI I expect from this film at the very least. Bay being involved means he`s gonna push for the best.

Movies look like cartoons now.

Fake animated city. Fake gorillas. Fake car chaces.

Meeehhhh

The movie will have to look really good, the last tmnt movie didn't put as many butts in the seat as it could have, the tmnt fanbase is pretty minimalistic as we speak. The marketing could be very strong but wouldn't be helpful if the movie looked pretty bad to people.
