1. William Fitchner isn't blonde.
2. Danny Woodburn, due to his short stature, is likely only doing the motion capture for Splinter. And on the off chance he is voicing him too, what does it matter, White guys have done the voice of Splinter before, so does it really matter. Either way, you will never actually see Woodburn. Same goes for if it was an Asian actor.
The only valid worry is (should he be voicing him too) if he'll give a solid performance, and considering that Danny Woodburn is a pretty good actor, I don't see that being a problem.
Must have recently seen a picture of him with lighter hair. Oh well. Still wrong for the part.
If Danny Woodburn is only doing mocap and not the voice, why bother getting Danny Woodburn who is a semi-recognizable character actor? He's probably doing the voice.
He's also wrong for the part he's been cast as. Splinter has, more often than not, been given a "wise, asian martial arts master" type voice. Because the Splinter character has been either a Japanese martial arts master turned humanoid rat or an actual pet rat of a Japanese martial arts master turned humanoid rat. Basically, picture the first two movies and the 2007 movie for actually good versions. And the third live-action movie and the 2003 cartoon for attempts on it. And even the '87 show attempted it.
Kevin Clash did it for the first 2 movies. He's a voice actor and was capable of doing it and doing it incredibly well, obviously. Some guy named James Murray tried doing an imitation of Kevin Clash's voice from the first 2 and...well, there you go.
Mako did it for the 2007 movie and he sounded great. He was an asian actor.
2003 cartoon was Darren Dunstan. No idea who he is but he's probably a voice actor and he did alright. 1987 cartoon was Peter Renaday. Voice actor. Also did it adequately enough.
And for the 2012 cartoon we've got Hoon Lee, another asian actor. Who does a fantastic job.
So that's two asian actors amongst a couple professional voice actors who did their best to portray splinter as a "wise, asian martial arts master."
Danny Woodburn is neither asian nor a professional voice actor. So unless they DO get someone else to provide Splinter's voice, this is what we're stuck with:

It's not a question about whether or not he's a good actor. He's a fine actor, in comedy roles(never seen him in anything else). That's not the point. The point is whether or not he's right for the role. And he's not, that's just a matter of fact. Splinter, like Shredder, is a traditionally Japanese character and, at the VERY least, should be portrayed by an asian actor. Or, worst case scenario, a professional voice actor capable of doing the "wise japanese sensei" in a way that isn't over the top or stupid-sounding(like Kevin Clash).
And the whole "he was cast because of his short stature for the mocap" stuff is bunk anyway. They can make ANY actor of any size look big or small once all the effects are done. Regular sized people can be made giant. Very tall people can be made very small. Or anything in between. So I can only assume that they cast him specifically because of his size and that Splinter will be around that size, even though...meh, I'd prefer he be taller. Splinter in the 2012 cartoon is man-sized and that's awesome. Splinter in the live action movies was man-sized and that was awesome. And since they cast Danny Woodburn in the role, and he's doing the mocap, and he's a semi-recognizable character actor, he's also probably doing the voice work, since we haven't heard much of anything about voice actors cast separate from mocap actors, that all but confirms it. And I sincerely doubt his range in acting/voice work is the same as Kevin Clash's.
Same goes for Shredder. Michael Bay cast a friend of his in the role because he's Michael Bay. Probably not because of his stellar audition or because Bay looks at Shredder and sees no one but Fichtner. The role could have went to a myriad of good to great Japanese or Asian actors. But nope. William Fichtner. Colonel Willie Sharp from Armageddon.
I'll reiterate. It's not about whether these two guys are good actors capable of decent performances. They are. William Fichtner in dramatic side roles and Danny Woodburn in comedic side roles. It's about whether or not they're right for two roles that are very specific in their requirements for the right actors.
And they're clearly not. Except for Michael Bay and the guy who directed Wrath of the Titans. And I'm not willing to give either of those guys the benefit of the doubt like I am say...Chris Nolan.
