New Mutants New Mutants News and Discussion - Part 2

New Mutants is definitely worth a watch if you're a hardcore fan of any of the characters. There is something nice about seeing the characters brought to life to a certain extent, even if it's in a poorly written & conceived movie. It will be seen by the public in some capacity. To many copies exist for it to be completely shelved now.

could you at least add if the decision to cancel it was from a Fox head or a Disney head? Im really interested in this particular aspect

"Regarding New Mutants, Fox Studios recently released their official "Twentieth Century Fox Films 2019 Slate," which does have the movie listed, but the official press info does note: "*at this time, subject to updates."

so meaningless lol
dec.20 still no reshoot, no information on the reshoot delay and future plan while casts are move on to new projects..

Kinberg and Fox are still insisting that Gambit is getting made. They'd probably tell you that the James Franco Multiple Man movie is still on track if you asked them. These statements are meaningless.

And a internet "leaker" is reliable... because?

this list doesn't even include gambit or kinberg so your argument is kind of lost on me. It is kind of ironic that we get an update that it's on track to be coming out right when slugzilla confirms it's been shelved. Nonthheless I'm still in wait and see mode.

it's literally just list of their confirmed 2019 release which can be changed. nothing more. lol

its pretty obvious the plan to reshoot 50% of the movie, or reshoots in general, got canceled/delayed. Fox seems to not know what to do with the movie as of right now, so they either decided to keep the movie as it is, or... they are deciding other options to release it. Maybe the first talks with Disney heads have led to this situation and they will wait some months to see what Disney wants to do with it.

Dark Phoenix trailer was released with a February 2019 release date and was changed a mere two days later.

Maybe they should've added that all important * in there LOL

Decision came from the mouse house.

Don't forget Shadowcat.

I call BS. If you're got the rights reverting back to Marvel, that's gonna take a few years to go into full effect and in the meantime you'll want to keep cashing out on the XMen.

Nope, thats because Disney knows that releasing bad mutants movies by FoX and movies that aren't related to the Mcu aren't good for the long run and it would limit them to characters and storylines that they might want to use in their own Marvel Stud10s films but couldn't because foX already adapted them. Do you really think they would do the Dark PhoeniX for the third time without the general public feeling they have already seen Dark PhoeniX too many times? Its the eXact same reason why Green Goblin hasn't shown to any mcu/spider-man films since 2014.

So many films that will never get to see the light of day, Kinberg's legacy.

thats not true, Kinberg is already working on f4 2 script and searching for a director, that will probably be announced around feb-march.
and gambit will start shooting in Feb, if all goes as planned

and multiple man will start shooting in 2019 (without a director, who cares, kinberg will ghost direct that one too. Fox trusts him)

This movie just seemed like ill advised from the beginning, but whatever. It's not my money.

Kevin Feige confirmed to Variety that talks are well underway about merging the Fox-owned characters into the MCU and he expects to begin cracking these stories in the first half of 2019.
“We’ve been told it’s looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year,” Feige confirmed to Variety. “The notion of the characters coming back is great. It’s nice when a company that created all these characters can have access to all those characters. It’s unusual not to. But in terms of actually thinking about it and actually planning things, we haven’t started that yet.”
