The Dark Knight New name for Dent (YES, NEW!)

I hope big willie isnt the new name...I doubt it, i mean he doesn't play 3rd fiddle in any of his films

If those hints from Jett are to be believed, marky mark is the new name and not an entirely bad one.....

Eckhart looks the part more though in my opinion.

PHEONIX DAMMIT!!!

I've just got word from an insider source that says a new candidate is practically signing on the dotted line as we speak, I can't say who right now but lets just say they'll pick the right MAN for the job, and that no other ACTOR would've been right for the role. anyway I'm off to make some toast with WHITE bread, and some butter from my AMERICAN style fridge...........:ninja:

It's Mark Whalberg. I know Jett doesn't like people reposting stuff he only says on the forums (what does he expect though?), but he gave away obvious clues there.

At the end of his post, he said "well I guess i'll depart, but keep those good vibrations coming."

Now, "depart" is obviously a clue pointing to the recent movie The Departed, however another clue is the "good vibrations" thing, which as someone pointed out is the title of a song by our friend Marky Mark.

Is yous serrious?

I agree. But is that who it's coming down to? Any available tidbits Gil?

I've got nothing on this one, Artos. All I know is that they've been in negotiations with a few guys for a while. Hopefully they can get someone pinned down in the next few weeks/days.

It obviously happens all the time, so no need for anyone to panic. The same thing happened with the Gordon role (more so than more people realize), and Gary Oldman ended up doing a great job. They'll get someone great regardless of the "draw" of the name/whatever the public's preconcieved notions are.

(I.E. Ledger...He's going to kill in this role, but people don't quite "get it" yet... they will.)

Luckily, the choices for Dent so far are pretty much guaranteed to make everyone happy regardless, so we should all thank our lucky stars. My guess on this one is that the studio would like to do a press release announcing both the recast of the Rachel character, Harvey Dent, and anyone else returning in one shot. So I'd expect something big to break very soon.

That would make sense. It sounds like the role of Dent has come down to two actors. Eckhart and Wahlberg. I have never been a big Marky fan....but after seeing the solid job he did in the Departed....I'm sure he would do a good job as Dent. As for Two Face...my gut tells me he might even do a better job as Two Face then Eckhart would! I hope they announce the casting this week. It sounds like it's close. Man I'm glad I took a break from the boards this past week. :word:

Whats with Jett anyway? if he knows who is cast tell us if he dont then say so all this crap he is feeding us makes him look silly especially from one who claims to be so pally with people involved in the movie if this was Latino review they would just tell us, straight up and no bull.

Nice to see you're still around Gill. Thanks for the info. ;)

BTW, is there any truth to Moviehole's insistance about Rachel dying? This has been driving me mad for a week now.

you thinkin its not nessecary?

I think it would be an interesting wrinkle to test Batman, and see if it drives him mad, or if he can deal with it

We've already seen Bats come to terms with justice vs revenge. I'm not saying the Nolans couldn't do something interesting with a seemingly tired cliche but...I'd rather have no cliches at all in the end.

Agreed, lets have the deaths of his parents be the only deaths that haunt/drive him.

They should cast that guy, with the hair.

Okay that is fair

There might not be a use for Rachel besides dying though is kind of how I am thinking, cause I don't think they will hook up, and if they do it won't be in TDK, it would be in 3

Which is why bringing her back and on top of that recasting her seems pointless to me. But of course, Nolan must have his reasons to want to bring her back.

Was Guy Pierce rumored back then or just fanboys speculation?

He would be a good Dent other than Eckhart.

As for Rachel, I dont really see Batman having much time for romance in TDK with him chasing down the Joker. I can see him thinking about relationship on part 3. Then hopefully we have the real Dawes come in by Katie Holmes.

Thought it was worth mentioning that Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg just filmed a movie together "We Own the Night", (Funny,You could respell it
"We Own the Knight"), or least it is in post production.

I like Wahlberg, Phoenix, and Eckhart. Any of the three will be good enough though I prefer Phoenix or(even more) Eckhart.

It would not necessarily be a cliche because in the books there have been a numerous amount of tragedies that have occured in Bruces' life that have kept him driven. Plus with Rachel dying it fall into the "things needing to get worse before they can get better" category.

Ah, a new name. *Snort*

Why do you humor this guy?

Rachel...to be or not to be...

Good question. I don't know where theyre going with her character specifically. If they kill her off, it'll be done well, no doubt.

I do know that everyone who stands for justice will face some really difficult demons of their own in this one. They will all be tested. "Everything has to get worse before it can get better..." This includes the personal lives/psyches of the main characters.
