BvS New Positivity Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!) - Part 1

I'd put the director's cut on par with TDKR (which is my favorite Batman movie to date, and my favorite from Nolan's trilogy; probably no coincidence that this one and BvS take a bit from Miller's DKR). I really ****ing loved how we got to see Supes as a guy who, despite his tremendous power, is struggling to find a place in the world.

When production began, I pegged this as an attempt to cash-in on Marvel's movies. That's probably not far from the truth of it, but I see where DCEU is in a position to start a very unique trajectory for their movies. I hope it works out; I'm looking forward to them getting right to the really juicy stuff like Darkseid, Apokolips and the New Gods.

Agreed. I also loved Clark Kent's investigation into Batman. His character really shined through in his genuine caring of people when he kept on insisting the story should be published and how they needed to be a voice for people whose civil liberties were being trampled on by Batman. Fantastic use of reporter Clark

I liked it. Haven't watched the Ultimate Cut yet, but I've seen it 3 times in the theatre. I hover around a B to B+ grade. Disappointment? Sure, since I feel like it should've been my favorite movie this year but so far isn't. Oh well, I still like it. Love Bat-Fleck

i feel this was one of the best parts of the added scenes in the ultimate cut.
you feel clark's concern for people and see why he feels batman needs to be stopped. + he's doing investigative reporting! the tc didn't show him doing his job so much.

in general, the ultimate cut benefited from all the extra clark + superman scenes added back in.
even the quiet moments such as when he calls his mom and asks her why things can't be simple.
there isn't alot of dialogue in that scene but it says alot.

you really feel sorry for what he's going through in this story.

Do any of the other films (1-4 or Returns) ever how him doing much investigative journalism? I can't remember, but I liked seeing it in BvS.

I will be pretty annoyed if DC decides to kill off Clark Kent, Reporter for good

The most I recall off the top of my head is something about Niagra Falls in II? I don't remember what the exact assignment was, but it wasn't much.

I left this board back in March because I saw the movie and loved it and didn't want to hear the negativity. I am more secure in my love for the film and have decided to venture back a little; especially knowing there will be a JL movie coming.
The only real thing I have against the film is the "Martha" scene. One standout of the film is the music.

S1-4 and returns treated the reporter Clark Kent like a nobody...

Is it okay to actually be positive about this movie here? I been lurking for a while but been really hesitant to join and even discuss the movie since I didn't like some things I saw here. But anyway, I will say the Ultimate cut is what SHOULD have been shown in theaters. The movie still have issues, but is a MUCH better movie and I feel bad that Zack got all the hate he did. There is a lot to like about this movie with the new cut that's for sure.

The Doomsday fight holds up very well with repeat viewings. The teamwork of DC's most famous trio was very well orchestrated as the movie reached its climax.

Yea, I rewatched some MCU and MoS and BvS fights today and have to say Zack's action sequences are so superior! I just love them all, they are the best!

Good points. I got the sense of it in the theatrical cut, but even moreso in the Ultimate Edition, that there is a clear vision behind DC's approach to a shared universe. But it's one that may take a little bit to fully bear fruit. And my biggest concern is that Warner Bros recoils from the negative buzz and starts meddling to make it more Marvel-style and light and poppy rather than giving this grand and mythic interpretation a chance to fully unfold.

Um...aren't we not suppose to use the "M" word?
Anyway, I brought the UC but havent watched it yet because its only on bluray.
I read a few weeks ago that people were apologizing to Zack on Twitter after they saw the UC. I apologized to Zack in March after I finally saw the film after being turned against him by the RT rating.
One thing I find interesting is how some people view this as either a Batman film featuring Superman or a Superman film featuring Batman.

I guess it kinda depends on which character you are more invested in.

For me, even in the Theatrical cut where Superman had less screentime, I though Superman was the center/heart of the film.

I think that's one of the reasons I liked the film so much; I feared they were going to throw Supes under the bus I'm favor of Batman but in the end it appeared to me to be a Superman central movie featuring Batman. I can tell Snyder respects and loves all these characters but he has a soft spot for Superman.

Agreed, this was a Supes movie all the way for me, the UC even more so.

Agreed,he even admitted Superman is his favourite character, and frankly I see that in his movies.

Im so glad there's this thread. I can no longer being up movies with friends because it always leads to that other popular franchise and then like a half hour laugh fest and bashing of two movies I absolutely love. It's just too aggravating. My bro and I used to go to the other franchise movies which just wasn't my kind of flick. I didn't hate or anything I just didn't like very much but I just talked about parts I thought WERE good. But my bro who is so awesome can't stand the character of superman and hates Ben Affleck with a passion.
He asked if wanted to go see BVS with me and I had to say no. He on first watching thought man of steel was a great story but since now doesn't like it . Doesn't hate it but seems opinion has changed. It would have hurt the experience knowing he thought it was garbage. I literally only have my wife to talk to about this movie. Imagine if everyone but your wife hated Star Wars original trilogy? It blows!!!
So thank you to everyone here. I'm not super but I hid a traumatic event in my life from the people dearest to me. I was crippled in a way I won't explain and continued to hide it. It wasn't a lie that hurt others but I know about the pain of misinterpreting who you are , your feelings deep inside and then after 18 years I healed, and genuinely rejoined the population of people that could view a future for themselves.
This is why MOS movie was a gift to me. I always understood that first genuine smile when in the interrogation room with Lois. Finally, he gets to be himself.

Hey man! Remember! You are never alone. There are always people like you. You just need to find them.
