BvS The BvS Ultimate Cut Thread - Part 3

Everytime I put the movie on, I'm fully emotionally committed to it.

Recently, watched this again with Man of Steel as a double-bill. Take something new away from it every time and really love both films. Soooo ready for Justice League...

I seriously didn't want it to end. Another 30 mins would've been nice!

Another amazing easter egg, Zack is the Man..... :D :D

It's already starting to feel nostalgic to me.
And it's just getting slightly better with each viewing.

I finally had the chance to watch the Ultimate Edition cut of the film yesterday and, if I'm being perfectly honest, I didn't in any way feel like it made a significant difference in terms of my opinion on the film, which I enjoyed very much when I saw it in theaters and which I feel is enjoyable and thematically and narratively functional regardless of which 'version' of it you see.

Having said that, though, I do think that the Ultimate Edition is the "definitive" version of the story Snyder and Co . were trying to tell and only enhances the narrative as depicted in the Theatrical Cut.

Fair enough. Yeah, there are a few people who don't feel there is much of a difference and there are few who see a big difference like Rorschach, I am somewhere in between.

While the Ultimate Edition does make some parts make more sense, those parts still aren't that necessary. I actually think the movie needed to cut a lot out.

Here's what I'd cut from the movie:

-Cut everything in the Africa scene before Lois being unmasked.
-Cut the KGBeast parts of the Africa scene, including the conflict between them and the terrorists and the framing.
-Cut every Kahina scene.
-Cut the scene of Lois coming home, opening her mailbox, and sitting around looking at a bullet, and the bathtub scene (maybe work in the romantic shots into another scene as a brief flashback, perhaps when Lois is given the ring at the end)
-Cut the lab scene with the bullet, Lois barging into the meeting regarding the bullet, and Clark warning Lois about digging up snakes
-Cut both Lois/Swanwick scenes
-Cut the bit where Bruce discovers his drive has been stolen. We can assume he retrieved it.
-Cut the second Diana/Bruce scene where he gets the drive back. Their flirtation doesn't amount to anything in this movie.
-Boil the Knightmare scene down to quick flashes of the "important" stuff: Bruce using guns, Superman soldiers, and Superman killing him.
-Have Bruce watch the videos, not Diana.
-Remove Diana reading Bruce's email. Whereas Bruce watching the videos feels like it could add to Bruce's fears, especially right after the Superman Knightmare, the email scene feels like Bruce's attention is divided. An email is also too cordial given his 1% mentality towards Supes.
-Remove the part with Diana on the plane.
-Remove the Steppenwolf scene. As is, it interrupts the effect of Superman's death, which worked better in the theatrical version. Instead, edit parts of it into Lex's prison scene with Batman, overlaying a couple shots of his Steppenwolf encounter while he's explaining about the bell being rung.

^ So basically you want to "gut" the entire movie pointlessly so that it doesn't actually have a story or change things (for no reason whatsoever) that are fundamentally important to said story.

Oooooooookay. :whatever:

Yeah remove all that and it will be pretty boring movie with just action scenes.

I like the ultimate cut but i think there could of been some stuff cut too. Mostly bullet scenes and some lex stuff. And as someone said having Bruce watching the Videos of flash and others may have been better.

I saw the ultimate cut again today and this movie just gets better the more I watch it. The Superman montage of him saving people all around the world just got me all choked up. Especially the people who were survivors of a flood and they wrote his insignia in chalk. The music in this movie is amazing I love all the themes for these characters.

Glad this thread's still alive. lol This movie really does get better each watch. I don't care what anyone says, I wholeheartedly believe that time will be kinder to this movie, I think a lot of fans are still polarized and in the angry phase of their disappointment with the theatrical movie and its reception. I can see the UC being looked at in the coming years much kinder. It's not going to convert people who dislike the movie on a fundamental level but I can see this being reevaluated as an underrated gem.

Agreed with both of you, like many of Snyder's movies, it rewards repeat veiwings as you notice something new every time or have a different perspective on some scenes. I would change some things about the movie still and while I have come to appreciate Lex's lines, I still don't like the performance.

None of that ruins the movie for me at all though and whenever I have spare time to watch a movie BvS is always in my mind as a candidate to watch again.

I do think it's reputation will get better with time, probably not with the fanboys who hate it, but with the GA

I don't understand how the GA is going to turn around on this. Like what's going to be the catalyst? Because it'd be pretty unprecedented.

Not sure where to post this question so i'll post it here. Why is it in the file that Bruce got from Lex there isn't an Icon for Superman and Batman? Lex has info on flash, aquaman, wonderwoman, but why doesn't he have a file on Superman and Batman? After all Lex does know Superman is Clark....don't remember if he knew Bruce was Batman but wouldn't he have files on them as well?

People will watch it on TV, those who didn't see it anyway, its on satellite TV here in the UK and I know a few who have watched and enjoyed it after avoiding it at the cinema.

The home sales already show though that the GA liked this movie a lot more than some fanboys did.

So you're talking about years from now?

Even then, how will one gauge that BvS is now beloved among the GA?

In regards to the BvS sales. Based on the numbers website, the home video sales is approximately $65M for BvS. Thor: DW is $63M. Does that mean that Thor: DW has a good reputation?
