I'd put the director's cut on par with TDKR (which is my favorite Batman movie to date, and my favorite from Nolan's trilogy; probably no coincidence that this one and BvS take a bit from Miller's DKR). I really ****ing loved how we got to see Supes as a guy who, despite his tremendous power, is struggling to find a place in the world.
When production began, I pegged this as an attempt to cash-in on Marvel's movies. That's probably not far from the truth of it, but I see where DCEU is in a position to start a very unique trajectory for their movies. I hope it works out; I'm looking forward to them getting right to the really juicy stuff like Darkseid, Apokolips and the New Gods.
Agreed. I also loved Clark Kent's investigation into Batman. His character really shined through in his genuine caring of people when he kept on insisting the story should be published and how they needed to be a voice for people whose civil liberties were being trampled on by Batman. Fantastic use of reporter Clark
