Superman Returns New Singer interview. Confirms deleted scenes. DVD talk, etc...

The In-Movie Experience aspect of the DVD release will probably only be incorporated in the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray releases of Superman Returns.

With the length of the film, plus audio tracks and a commentary, they don't have enough room to do that on a Standard DVD. But, HD, they have plenty of room.

Look for it there.

I'd think the "In-Movie-Experience" would be moved to the second disc and be represented as basically featurettes and deleted scenes. But you never know--again, if not that many scenes are chopped, they could at the minimum present a seamlessly branching version of the movie on the first disc. 2nd disc would be all the other stuff separated out and turned into it's own beast.

Remember, it IS going to be a 2 disc. they don't have to fit everything onto 1 like the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray discs are.

You do know DVD will always around right. Just because Blu Ray & HD DVD will be out does not mean DVD will be ignored & obviously it wont with a Huge Movie like this

Roberts,

True. It'll be interesting to see how they do it. But, it's confirmed that a HD-DVD and Blu-Ray version of this film will be released in the fall with that gigantic Box Set for Superman.

Trailer, oh I know DVD will always be around. It's just that In-Movie Experience with the film playing while watching featurettes sounds like something they've been prepping for HD.

I'm not saying it's not going to be on the DVD. It could very well be. But considering the space and how long the film is for Standard DVD, it just seems to me like a feature that would be in fact for HD. That's all.

If they want this Movie to make any Money I dont see THAT MANY PEOPLE spending over a Thousand Dollars / 600 Bucks for Blu Ray & HD DVD Players & since obviously not many will buy the PS3 at the price it is only chance this Movie will make any Money is on DVD

Trailer,

Oh, no doubt. It'll make almost all of it's money on DVD. Personally, I've got myself lined up to buy the PS3 and the first thing I'm buying for Blu-Ray is Superman The Movie, Superman II Donner's Cut and Superman Returns.

The special features on the DVD will probably equal the ones on the HD release. It's just a question of how they'll incorporate all of that in the DVD release compared to the HD release.

What they will more then likely do with Superman Returns is release a crap DVD first & give it a year or so giving People time to buy Blu Ray & HD DVD Players. Then once the Public gets a better idea wih if any Format gets off to the ground (hell at this point BOTH new Formats CAN FAIL) they will then release ANOTHER EDITION giving the popularity of the Movie & depending on which new DVDs hit it off & they wont need Bryans Journals on any of the DVDs since they will be on a DVD Disc of Best Buys Limited Edition Bonus Disc Superman Documentary

Trailer,

Actually, WB has been releasing for a while now a single disc version of the DVD along with a 2-Disc Special Edition on the same day when it comes to their top priority films.

Recent examples have been Constantine, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and V for Vendetta (August 1st). They could do the exact same thing with Superman Returns this fall.

It makes sense. Some people don't want the special features. They just want the film. Everyone else, who's into films and DVDs, tend to get the special editions.

I like having a choice on release day.

Trailer,

Well, that depends. I mean, WB could go all out on this film with this release.

Will there be a director's cut? Who knows. Only Singer knows that. It'll be interesting see what actually makes it onto the DVD.

If we get deleted scenes, a serious making-of documentary(I'm talking at least 2 hours in length), trailers, commentary, and character/poster galleries, then I'd be fine with the DVD.

That's all I really want.

Trailer,

The great thing about Superman Returns and DVD/HD is the fact that the film was shot on HD, not film. So, it's going to look incredible on DVD and especially HD.

can a HD DVD or Blue-ray DVD be played an a standard DVD player, or do you need a special DVD player to watch them?

No you need either a HD DVD Player or Blu Ray DVD Player & the PS3 is going to be Blu Ray Compatible but its price is what is going to kill it for most

Nope.

If you want to watch HD-DVD, you have to have a HD-DVD player. The same goes for Blu-Ray. You can not play either one on a standard DVD player as well.

Well, HD is a new format all together. Again, it won't replace DVD. DVD is going to be around for a long, long time until the studios decide to go Video On Demand for their home video market.

As soon as that PS3 hits, I'm jumping on the HD bandwagon. In my mind, I'm already there and I hope Superman Returns and Batman Begins are my first purchases.

Singer acts like a woman with each passing day.

Either put the deleted scences in the DVD, or shut the F(^k-UP

" I haven't decided yet." what a wuss:down

I just hope the Ultimate collection comes in standard DVD format, because I cant afford getting one of those thousand dollar dvd players that only play HD DVD or Blueray DVD. I'll have enough just barely for the ultimate collection, let alone a new DVD player...

how come there isnt jus one player instead of 2.. like there was never dvd and vdv or w/e there was jus dvd

Singer is a bad a$$. Good stuff, hope he keeps that 'huge' scene of Kal-El's adventures away from planet, Earth. Sounds like intriguing stuff. As for the IN-Movie experience, that sounds fantastic. I'm sure that is the catch to buying the new updated dvd programs though, which is cool... You can watch the making of and the movie at the same time. Great concept. Getting more and more excited by the day. I also got to pick up that dvd that comes out "History of Superman" or whatever? Put together by Bryan? I think it comes out early at Best Buy, but I'm not sure. One thing I am very thrilled to see is, the fact that Singer takes so much pride in not only his work, but the character and mythos as a whole. He even fit the time to do the "History of.." dvd, and he manages brand Superman and makes sure it is recieved well everywhere, and that it keeps the majestic quality and isn't over done to the public. Singer seems like that genuine nice guy.

I have 3 questions:

1. I need PS3 to get Blue-Ray DVD? So I cant by just a Blue-Ray DVD?

2. Will SR DVD be released in Blue-Ray or HD DVD??

3. Can Blue-Ray or HD DVD play usual DVD discs???
