Things changed for the best, and Dan Slott is arguably the best Spider-Man comic book writer of all time

If it's not as bad as that putrid wretch of a show called Ultimate Spider-Man, then I might give it credit for that at least.

Still worried about Dan Slott being involved, but not gonna disregard the good work he's done with Spidey.

Slott made mistakes in the past, yes. But, when you compare his mistakes to the ones in USM you'll see it's not a big of a deal.

The fact that people still have respect for him after the giant middle finger he gave us in Power Play (I'm specifically referring to the end of issue 15) actually makes me ashamed to be a Spider-man fan.

The only reason people found that offensive is they think Peter and MJ will end up together. It's not happening any time soon. I wasn't the biggest fan of that beat, but it's not a travesty. No, the travesty was that whole storyline.

I literally just stopped reading right here :barf:

Slott has had an abundance of awesome stories and a plethora of crappy stories. The longer his tenure, the more crappy stories we seem to get IMO.

But it's not like he's a staff writer on this show. IMO people are making a mountain out of a molehill regarding his involvement.

Someone who's been on both ends of the spectrum. Brilliance, and... Well let's just say far from brilliance. It's a wild card, but that's not always a bad thing. He's definitely seen the hate USM has got from anyone old enough to express their complaints via social media or any other online outlet. Can he step up and contribute towards something great again? Only time will tell. I wouldn't write him off, but he's definitely not a shoe in either. Again, wild card. Let the chips fall where they may, besides, anything is a step in the right direction when compared to USM.

Wild card is the best way to describe Dan Slott.

And yeah, realistically...can it get worse than USM?

Although I've heard Vulture apparently has a sonic scream in preview footage? :(

Sorry everyone, Josh Keaton is voicing Ant-Man in a Ant-Man and the Wasp animated show.

Good for Keaton. Good for me, too, since I didn't want him back as Spidey for the new series. I'm all about new voices for Spidey.

I'd like to see a newcomer, someone that could portray a belieavable teenager, and I don't think either Keaton or Bell have it on them. I'm not saying an actual teenager, but someone that can sound like one and be cool. Having a 37 years old Keaton playing a teenager Spider-Man again would be weird, very happy for his Ant-Man gig tho.

This is where we agree.

Dan Slott is arguably the best Spider-Man comic book writer of all time, and probably the most knowledgeable when it comes to his continuity too.

This is where we strongly disagree. But hey, I'm just a scorned Andrew Garfield widower. :o Also, he is pretty knowledgeable on continuity, which is why I feel his best work is either other world or one shot material. I'm With Stupid, Renew Your Vows, etc.

Doesn't fit the main title at all.

 I loved Keaton's Spidey, but unless we get a Spectacular revival, I'd rather get some new blood behind the character as a voice artist.

The thing is, he can call back to some cool Ditko/Romita Sr. era stuff and it's fun, but he has trouble with his own continuity. Just because he could win the 1975 edition of Spider-Trivia doesn't make him a continuity god. Just something that peeves me about his reputation.

Well yeah, you summed it best. What is typically deemed as his greatest strength is also his greatest flaw at points.

He uses the "we choose to carry whatever baggage we want with us" or something along those lines as a bypass and it gets frustrating 'cause he'll contradict himself like a week later. :argh:

This is going to be great. https://***********/rawrgyle/status/764217635198218240

I really hope he's not leaning into camera to break the 4th wall in that top right corner....

Looks like they took USM and smothered it into SSM's art style tbh.

Slott does contradict himself quite often and some of the things he's said with regard to Spider-Man just make him seem like the wrong kind of fan. Knowledgeable about what happened on page 20 of issue #57, sure, but if you possibly have a differing opinion from his, you're just plain wrong.

One of the worst statements that he's ever made was when he said that Peter's love for MJ is anti-Marvel. It's an absurd opinion to begin with but then you factor in the characters that he has created or supports and the contradiction is immense.

It's not--its from August. Grace draws Spidey a lot. She's incredible.

Whoa. That looks awesome! I'd love to see this style used for the show. It's a bit like TSSM--edgy and stylized.

I love Grace Liu's style. I don't know if they use any of that for the show, but it's a joy to watch her draw Spidey. There's just so much energy in all the poses and angles she does!

Yeah, she says she's a storyboard artist, so not the character designer. But, those pics are promising, making this look stylized and fluid like Spectacular!

the best thing Slott wrote was the Spidey-Human Torch mini years ago.

The costume in this looks like a mix between civil war and the current (i think?) comic costume with the weird boots

Yeah, not a fan of that mindset whatsoever.

Once again strengthens my thoughts that he works better as a one-shot/other world writer, 'cause I just feel he doesn't quite get the current run at all IMO.

Exactly! And that's what's super insufferable about him. I feel he's an ok person, but that is the least attractive, most abrasive, insufferable crap ever. And he's always been like that with fans who disagree with anything he says.
