Dan Slott really is a mixed bag. His current run on Spider-Man comics is crap. But, he's done some really solid work, i.e. I'm with Stupid, Renew Your Vows, etc.
While my expectations have diminished thanks to Slott being involved, I'll keep an open mind and am hoping for the best. At least USM is going away. That was pure ugly.
Slott has a good working knowledge of the Spidey mythos and continuity but it's all about execution. Weisman is respectful of the source and sought to bring about more cohesion within the story while maintaining the core of the characters. Slott will do the same so long as the story revolves around Ock or Carlie Cooper.
I'm not going to denounce this show just because Slott is involved but my excitement is now diminished. It's not whining, it's that I care how this turns out and I really don't care for Slott and his methods.
This.
I don't see him as being disrespectful of that history. He is writing stories taking place now based on what happened in the past, not re-telling stories. You know I'm not picking on you Webhead, since we like a lot of the same when it comes to Spidey. You and others are free not to like what's happening in the current comics. But Pete right now is dealing with a situation that was started by Ock, who built Parker Industries. It's funny when I saw people complain how intelligent Pete was struggling to make money selling pix to the Bugle. They said he should use his intelligence and be successful. Well, he's doing just that and people still complain.
I do miss him being in New York and being with MJ. But, just like Superior, this is taking the character in a different direction. Pete is still Pete, even though he's in a more Tony position. Now he has Harry and Hobey(!) working for him. Sounds like he's getting more responsibility with the Avengers. Miles Warren is back, and I always liked his stuff, despite the mess the 90's Clone Saga was.
But I see Slott as building on continuity, not disrespecting it. I'm not saying he is going to be better than Weisman. Nothing would give me more joy than if they brought back Weisman and this became season 3 of Spectacular. I'm just saying Slott is a positive with his knowledge of Spidey history and continuity.
What if Tom voiced Spidey?
Maybe this is just where you and I differ, but the fact that he supports Marvels misguided vision for the character in which Peter should be a perpetually single and inept man-child who never grows up, has the same tired, one-note relationship with Aunt May in which she can never again learn his secret, and has a toxic relationship with Mary Jane in which she no longer wants to associate with him-that's enough to tell me that he shouldn't be allowed within 100 feet of the character.
Oh yeah, and the fact that he constantly acts like a temperamental child online and insults and belittles fans who don't agree with him or Marvels decisions.
What if Tom voiced Spidey?

If this is not set in the wider Marvel Universe i'd be perfectly fine with it. Eliminates the chances of us ever getting another superhero teen squad like they did in USM
Looks like it'll be a January release? They could be mistaken since that's the month USM airs its finale, but on the other hand, they do work directly on the show, so...

Why does it look like spidey was drawn in Microsoft Paint?....
I think the picture is pixelated because it's bigger than it should be or something. I've seen the same picture smaller and spidey looks fine.
