Same :funny: at least we won't be subjected to him worshipping the ground Stark walks on

Or getting dumb'd down and the core of the character being absent. :oldrazz:

Saw all six parts and I actually enjoyed them. I don't think most folks don't have to worry about the tone. The Uncle Ben part of the story was very mature and well written.

Great to know!

I'll disagree on those statements about Tom's Peter, but thats a discussion for another time ;).
My biggest gripes with the episodes I saw were A) the "science" part of the character felt a bit on the nose and B) the animation was hit or miss.
Uncle Ben writes the great power and great responsibility speech as an equation, and Peter wears a patch with said equation on his backpack. I could;t tell if that was too on the nose or not. It's kinda cute, but it's also kinds dumb.
The animation was worse than Ultimate, and I had to get used to it. It are on me, but the motion felt kinda choppy and stilted.
I'll also say that the villains, so far, are kinda one dimensional. Vulture only had two scenes and a handful of lines, which was a letdown after how amazing the movie version was. Scorpion was basically just a crook in a suit, and the Smythe's are pretty typical villains so far. However, certain developments lead me to believe that that problem will get fixed as we go forward.
After sleeping on it, I am still really excited for the show. I think it'll be a treat for those who didn't care for Homecoming (even though I LOVED that movie). It really is an awesome time to be a Spider-Man fan.

Good to know! At least the few people I know have seen the parts have mostly positive things yo say about the new series

What? You didn't find that AWESOME :sly:

Definitely looking forward to this series now, at least they seem to have taken some of the USM criticisms to heart and improved on some of them (now if only they'd ditch the Spider Power Rangers team thing)

Also, how much self-awareness would you say the show has in regards to Ultimate? Does it feel like they wrote a list of all criticisms thrown at Ultimate and tried to make improvements, or more like they just wanted another Spider-Man show?
One of the criticisms that are apparent about USM is the voice of Drake Bell, they didn't fix that significantly, and he's still pretty obnoxious in the origin segment.

Saw all the Origin shorts. Genuinely the best Spidey related thing I've seen in years.
Looking forward to the show to keep up the momentum.

Fans are often times very spoiled and entitled. They don't like to admit when they're wrong either.

The fact that Peter calls his wall climbing abilities "ParkER" made me both cringe and laugh.

I really think this Peter/Spidey is going to be a good mix of what I want when I think of a teenage Peter.

Could be educational for kids, and fewer mistakes thrown in if we're lucky.
It could also rub "Peter Parker is a science whiz" in the faces of audience a little too much.

The more clips get released, the more I find myself eagerly anticipating the show to finally start airing....

Those origin shorts look pretty good. The animation looks good too...it has a bit of an old school feel to it and I like that. Still not warming up to Peter's voice. I'm sure this is a direction thing and not on the actor--it's annoying in an obnoxious way. Maybe that'll change, I dunno. This is definitely better than USM but that's really not much of a compliment imo. I'm looking forward to the start of the show even with all my reservations.

Nothing is going to surpass The Spectacular Spider-Man. UltimateWebhead agrees.

I hope we get one that does, but right now we can easily agree that this won't even hold a candle next to that one.

That review doesn't give me much hope at all.

The fact that they feel Peter is the least likable/interesting character in his own show speaks volumes. Yay for more obnoxious Spider-Man.

So far not digging it, but I'm a total Spider-man junkie so I'll be watching it anyway. I watched the entire 1st season of Ultimate, and some random episodes despite consistantly disliking the show

I like the nerdy Scientific Method theme that these shorts have. Very Parker-esque-- including Pete's bad jokes/puns.

I was hoping the change and realization of his powers didn't take less than a couple of hours. But eh... it's fast pace and something a smart kid like Pete would figure out rather quickly anyhow.

I'm still wondering if Uncle Ben is around. Doesn't seem like it.

Apparently Patton Oswalt is voicing Uncle Ben, so he'll be featured in some way or another.

how many episodes will be produced for the new show? Hopefully it will be enough to be syndicated.

Since this is the high school era, I wonder how many characters will be "retconned" to fit in, especially villains? Venom, Hobgoblin, Menace, so on?
do they have access to Kingpin again, finally?

I'm not eager to see certain modern stories adapted like Superior Spider-Man, clone sagas and the like.

This guy called it and the review seems to confirm it.

My god they made Peter annoying... like the reason he's socially awkward is because he's annoying and obnoxious to be around, like Spongebob or something. He's interrupting people, repeating what that scientist said out loud at the same time he's talking.

Also he has his powers that quick after the spider bite? (I'm probably nit-picking there but man that felt...rushed.) This show isn't impressing me...

I found this review for the first two episodes. Warning: Spoilers.

Grade: 4/10

I kinda liked the scientific method approach, but I'm still not digging the show. I'm with AnneFan and UltimateWebhead on this, it's very far from The Spectacular Spider-Man
