All joking aside, the "Man of Steel" title could actually be a Brainiac reference, especially if they decide to go with a similar approach to "Smallville" (i.e. a liquid-metal version akin to the T-1000).

If you are talking about The Eradicator then he isn't a villian really. He is a program to protect Krypton's sole survivor - Superman.

He is not a villian to Superman nor he is a friend. He is just The Eradicator. He could be on Superman's side but then again he could fight Superman. But Superman respects The Eradicator for one reason. He did save Superman's life so he can beat Cyborg when Superman came back to life.

Well, the movie could be based loosely on the "Day of the Krypton Man" story arc. The plot:Superman goes to the Fortress a finds a golden device(Eradicator). It corrupts him into Krypton Man and he wants to use a New Krypton Island to terraform Earth into his home planet. Now Kal-El must choose between Earth and Krypton.

It would be Superman III all over again.

I think the Eradicator could be a great side character. We could see a Lex & Brainiac plot with an Eradicator subplot. Brainiac could arrive somehow via NK and Eradicator appears via the FOS after Superman has now no access to Jor-El. The Eradicator could either want to destroy Jason because he is an alien being and not pure Kryptonian or act as an emotional and intellectual help to Superman in order to protect Jason from Brainiac.
