Comics New X-Men: Academy X

They look SOOO out of place here. Marvel seriously should have kept this ES back up story out of the books and put it in a mini

:whatever: Good god, it's not like they're actually in the New X-Men story. It's in a completely separate back up at the end of the book. It's not like it takes that much to separate the two in your mind.

I totally agree. I wonder if there just wasn't enough story to tell?

I really do not understand why people are having such a hard time with this. They're tiny back up stories that are going through the same books that are going to be involved in the crossover. There's not supposed to be a huge story in them because, again, they're nothing but back ups. You don't have to buy them all to get what will be going on in Messiah Complex. It's nothing but a prologue, and people would be complaining if it was put in mini form the same way people complain how Deadly Genesis was nothing but a prologue to Bru's initial arc on Uncanny. This way, you can still get the titles you do buy and not miss much of a thing without shelling out an extra three bucks a month.

I never complained about DG and I'm willing to shell out the additional $3. I didn't know it was merely a prologue though.

I read all the books involved so a matter of buying all issues doesnt bother me. I liked DG so that argument doesnt affect me

I wasn't directing the complaing thing specifically at you, but there have been plenty around here who have done that. (Darth, I'm lookin at you. :p)

Yet you'd still shell out the extra money a month to read it? Wish I had your budget.

i still cannot believe comics cost $3 now. i remember when $3 bought you the giant sized gatefold cover coated tin foil

actually I wouldnt bother bc Im completley not interested as I have no use for a solo Beast and the one shot didnt do anything for me. But if it were other characters involved, than yeah I might have checked out a mini

Are we talking DG or ES? :woot:

I don't recall taking out the torch & pitchforks regarding the later...???

Didn't I say it sucked for those not liking *insert name of x-book* but wasn't that big of a deal and that I might pick up the TPB??

I'm hardly a crusader on this one. :woot:

I think it's ok the the ED backs up are in the books, it's not that bigga deal. Anyway, I re-read issue 28 last night, and I seriously found it to be an emotional issue. I bring this up because I'm getting more and more annoyed with people who say all these writers do, all they know how to do, is kill. I get what they're trying to tell us. That it's serious after M-day. It makes perfect sense that kids will die, they're the weaker of the mutants.

Which in turns brings up the whole 'why the hell would they still send kiddies into battle if the situation's that bad' question.

It's pretty simple. 1) they're not sending them into battle. Things keep coming at them. But the older x-men have to try them because these kids have to fight now.

2) These are kids who are not taking **** anymore, so if you hurt one of their own, they will go after you. If they did nothing, they would only be sitting ducks, waiting to be killed.

Let me rephrase: Why would the adults not go off that Stryker mofo themselves rather than pray that pissed off teens won't?

That I can't answer. You can chalk it up to them being busy. There are, like, 3 other x-books. THere's no way you can say they weren't possibly busy. Either way, the kids still had to fight, because William was ready for the adults.

Oh, actually, all I'm saying is that the premise of *ANY* book involving teen heroes is that the adults are too busy.

And sometimes, we can't help but wonder "Can't you spend a whole five minutes saving their asses or something?" ;)

And I know it happened *once* recently in NXM. Still...

that big Strker mess was just that a mess. What the hell is the point of O.N.E. I thought it was to protect the mutants at the mansion but they were completely useless. Forget about the X-men, what about the govt and all those sentinels? Nope, gotta have the kiddies fight off the attack instead

I know the torch and pitchforks only came out for DG from you. :p

And I know some of the other stuff that you said, I'm just pointing out that it was a bit worthless to put it in a mini. It's not really big enough to support a mini, and it's getting readers prepared for the crossover, which they haven't done for years. It just makes more sense to keep it as back ups. especially with some of the complaints lodged in the past which are conflicting with complaints now.

Yes, I am that subtle. :woot:

I guess. Lose-lose situation, eh?

Sooooo I JUST read 39. Damn. This book is crazy.

PS. I'm noticing, a bit late I'm guessing, that the covers for the four issues of the arc all form one image. Is there an all-encompasing image floating around?!
