Comics New X-Men: Academy X

Yes, but I want Laurie back.:csad:

It's ok though, for the most part, I like the characters they picked to keep around.

Especially Murcury, X-23, and David.

^You think they got so much flak that they will do something like that?

I just think they went a little hog wild on the killin, and I'm hoping they fix some of it...but like was said, when they take someone out...it's for real.

They wanted to show how dangerous the world was for these teenage mutants now, and they surely did that with the Stryker/Nimrod story.

Well maybe Kyle and Yost could give the book to Whedon for a few months, and then he can go all Buffy on us and write Josh resurrecting Laurie, and having her be all "I was happy in heaven on now I'm back on earth you ****er!"

lol im not sure if Whedon would be the best thing for this title, kinda worried about him on Runaways tbh.
Im thinking the teams gotta be pretty steady now, they cant exactly kill off any more characters.
I think itl be good to see Julian, Rockslide and josh adjusting to their new powers.

^Yeah, I see a period of growth for the team now. Interested in what Josh has planned. X-23 Target X #1 was amazing. I am looking forward to the Mercury Rising storyline more than ever now.

Ok, this has been bugging me, where the **** is Santo getting all these cloths all of a sudden that fit him like nothing has happened?

If you are new to New X-men and want to get into it, START WITH ISSUE 20! Do NOT read before that, you will become attached to characters that may longer be there. I AM SERIOUS. When you read Issue 20-current, THEN you can read the issues that came before it. That would include New Mutants Vol. 2, New X-Men: Academy X 1-19 + the Yearbook 1, and New X-Men: Hellions 1-4. Please believe what I'm saying. Please Trust me. You have been warned.

More like it shows how the current team is spitting on the work of the old.

I figured that's how it would come off when I wrote it. But honestly, this book is damn good, so screw what came before and enjoy the riide if you'll let yourself.

Do you think that Anole(hate that name) and Hammil(sparkhead) are going to be a part of the team?

I don't even know. The writers just keep messing with our heads!

But have Spakhead been part of some story before? i know Anole, but Sparkhead was new to me. But I would like some new blood in the team. Just one. Not meny though, just one or maybe two.

^Be nice to see a little more of them in action either on a team or a side story.

Yea that would be good :) Did you know that the writers first plan was to make Anole kill himself after founding out he was gay? Its nice that they decided to keep him.

Edit: Am i the only one who would like to see more of these students:

Loa
Indra
and I need to know more about Nezhno
i would rather have one of them on the team then Match...

"Screw what came before"? Sorry, but ya can't just do that. Alot of these characters were created as a labor of love by the old writers, and they really gave it their all when writing them. Doing what Yost and Kyle did not only undermines a lot of what they did, it's practilly spitting in their faces. They ruined several of the characters and put others through some bad stories that didn't do much for them. I don't care if people consider it good now. The ends don't always justify the means, and for me to keep buying this book would be me justifying that writers can do whatever the hell they want with little or no respect towards what other writers did before them, and I will not do that. So, until Yost and Kyle are off this title, I will not be buying it.

You may feel that way, but I feel different. I've been Reading these characters since issue 7, and read back issues. i had a connection to them just like everyone else had, But I have the ability to get over it. Yeah, they killed one of my favorite characters, what am I gonna do, stop buying a book? No, That's not me. I gave the book a chance and I'm glad I stayed around. You feel they spit in the face of the other writers, sure, I won't deny that, but what I was trying to do with this...

...Is to give my unbiased take on the book and advise what new reader should do. There will be new readers, and whether you admit it or not, some of them are not into teen soaps like the book used to be. The same could be said about how some of them don't like all action all the time books. I'm being in the middle. If I think something is good, I'm going to recommend to people, like fans of the book should.

^Both of you guys make good points. Myself I enjoy the characters, but have only been reading since issue 22. Spec, you gotta pick this comic up though, it really is a good read.

But see, ya kinda prove my point here. You're saying to just ignore a big part of these character's histories, and that's something anyone teaching writing and such will tell you that you CAN'T do. Those beginning issues are where most of those characters got their starts, and if you want a full grasp of those characters, you have to start there and follow them on their paths up until now. If people really want to get an unbiased opinion, they should start at the beginning and make up their minds from then on. Starting in the middle will too easily skew their views and not allow them to have a full grasp of the characters. They'd go into issue 20 and such and get these views on the characters, and go back and see them acting completely different in some cases, and they will have no clue what that is because they are reading them out of order, and because these new writers stomped on several things that were already done with them. So like I said before, I am not picking up this book again until Yost and Kyle are gone. There is no way that I can enjoy a book when I know the writers don't care about what came before them.
