I would like that because then they would actually finally go through with turning some of these kids into real X-Men. So many of the kids from past teen books, New Mutants, Gen X, didn't get any real shot at becoming X-Men, and most of those who did, didn't get much chance to really make their mark as an X-Man. The only one who really seems to have been a success is Cannonball.

It may have taken him awhile, but when he made X-Man, he stuck around. He didn't quit and leave except for like once for an X-Force relaunch, but he immediately came right back and stuck around and didn't fade into the background. The only other ones I can think of from the junior teams to make it were Chamber and Husk. Chamber didn't get a chance to do much of significance before he left and went undercover in Weapon X, and all Husk did was bone Angel and then become background dressing. Then there was poor Jubilee who was pretty much demoted to Gen X. And also Mirage, for like, one mission.

I ask because I'm not sure how much time the kids would have to spend "shadowing" adult X-Men before they were considered X-Men themselves. I wasn't reading comics when Cannonball first came on the scene so I have no idea how long this kind of thing usually takes.

Ah, gotcha. Well, with Sam, he was on X-Force for quite awhile before being invited up. With Chamber, he was invited right when the Gen X kids graduated. It all depends I guess on what writer wants them as X-Men or not.

I just don't think the X-books have space for any background charcters.

Havok, Polaris, and Rachel should be back soon(sans Korvus!)

I'm hoping Psylocke comes back after New Exiles gets cancelled

It took him quite a while. He was in New Mutants for 100 issues. Then X-Force for 40 some issues. After X-Force he went to the X-Men. He was there for a little bit but had insecurity issues and eventually left them to go back 'home' then to X-Force for another good 25 issues or so. In time he helped Storm with her X-Treme team (about another 15 issues) and after that decided to go back to the X-Men. It lasted one mission and he got hurt and left the team and rejoined X-force for a short time. Then he came back on with Carey's team and has been there for the past year and a half or so. So he's been off and on. I hope it sticks this time.

And I really thought Chamber was going to make it. I was sad when he was just written out by Austen. I was glad he was picked up by Weapon X as an X-Man infiltrating them, because that showed he was still an X-Man, though not still in the X-Books. Then after that ended nothing came of him again until Decimation and New Warriors.

I hope they explain his change from Chamber to Decibel

See, I actually thought it was cool that Chamber and Blink may be related to Apoc...but I wanted it to end there.
