I just hope that no matter how much green they throw at Jackman, he doesn't agree to work under a crap director. I am still confused to this day as to why (besides money) he agreed to do Origins. Horrible script, mediocre director and an overall insulting depiction of one of Marvel's most iconic characters with an origin that probably stands in the top 3 of the best all-time origins in comic book lure.

Yes, he brought work to his home land and got paid $20 Million. But he made a horrible film. Money fades yet a terrible film will forever be deemed terrible.

Like Origins, I'm pretty sure he has final say on the director, per his contract. I wouldn't say Hood is a mediocre director, he's a pretty good one, he just ended up making a mediocre film. Why it turned out mediocre. who knows? I've read somethings where it's mentioned he wanted the movie look and feel a different way and him and Rothman fighting constantly, etc....

**** just goes south sometimes.

According to the extras on the blu-ray, Hood wanted the whole film to look like that opening credits sequence - which, regardless of how the rest of the film wound up, was a pretty cool sequence. Who knows what else happened, other than presumably a lot of bad studio interference.

I like how Hood is considered such a bad choice now. I was pretty optimistic about him back in the day (as were many people). He was very gracious about Fox, but there were stories about how much interference he suffered, and the script clearly sucked donkey balls.

Origins: Wolverine needed a better script, foremost.

Jackman doesn't care.

So... could we change the thread subtitle from "talk about the Darren Aronofsky..." to "talk about the James Mangold directed film" or just call it "the new Wolverine film"?

Hugh is doing a one-man show for two weeks starting Tuesday, and in this audio interview he is still saying (confirming?) that the movie starts filming in October (didn't mention Mangold, wasn't asked about the director).

Others may also be interested in this tidbit (danoyse, where are you?) - at about 2:40 he confirms he's filming "Les Miserables" next year.

So, Kelly Hu has been cast as Yuriko Oyama / Lady Deathstrike?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1430132/

I'd love that as long as they stay in continuity. How can you not feel bad for her dying under mental control in X2? If she had a history with Logan that he didn't remember, that would make X2 even better and that scene far more tragic.

I don't see why Cecilia Reyes needs to be in the film at all. I hope Fox avoids jamming in cameos just for the sake of cameos. They really should've learned that lesson by now. They think they're doing it for the fans but all it does is piss off 98% of us.

Interesting, I'll be watching that page, but take everything with a grain of salt......

......nothings 100% till the studio, Hugh, etc.... starts releasing news...

wouldn't mind seeing Hu back though...has she aged well?

Former 3LW singer Naturi Naughton has been cast as Cecilia Reyes, a former X-men and doctor, in the Wolverine sequel.

The budding actress has come a long way since leaving 3 Little Women, playing Lil' Kim in the movie Notorious, as well as many guest spots, including a role on the Emmy-winning TV show Mad Men. This fall she'll play Brenda on NBC's The Playboy Club.

Her name is another that's been on IMDB for ages, besides Kelly Hu. Kelly said it wasn't true so I wonder if this is also.

It's possable Cecilia Reyes could be In the film. However we need more than IMDB to
say she Is.She wouldn't be an X-Man In the film.Just a doctor who Is also a mutant.

IMDB can't be trusted for future movie news. Any person can edit it.

If they're going with a force-field mutant, I'd rather see Armor, who has Japanese roots and actually has comic history with Wolverine.

Tbh, I don't think Jackman enjoyed X-Men Origins: Wolverine. However, he seems to be REALLY confident this this one will be great, so I'm very excited!

Lauren Shuler Donner and Jackman didn't even want to do the first Wolverine film. :p They wanted to tackle the Japan saga (aka The Wolverine) first. Rothman "insisted" they push that off and do an origin story.

If they start casting random mutants again I'll officially give up on this film. Slade said Logan was the only mutant in McQuarrie's script, so anything contradicting that indicates studio interference to brighten things up in an effort to appeal to the kids (what ruined the last film).
