NFL draft 2014! The Place to Get Pick'd

So despite the multiple reports that Bortles was many teams' number 1 QB, the Browns traded back immediately after we made the pick, and Minnesota clearly didn't know what to do with the 8th pick after Bortles was taken, he was definitely going to be available in the second round just because you say so.

'K then.

Drunk Bengals fans are already declaring McCarron the soon-to-be starter.

Dude has "career backup" written all over him. And hey, now Cincinnati gets to deal with the drama of McCarron's reality tv show that nobody on the planet asked for.

It's not a TV show, it's just a one episode special where he and Webb get married.

Also, Jags drafted another great value pick in Aaron Colvin. Our staff was really high on him after the Senior Bowl and I remember during the senior bowl seeing a lot of tweets saying Colvin was the standout corner there before his injury. Kiper, McShay, and Mayock all say the same thing that he was a late 1st/2nd round talent and a prototypical value pick in the 4th. Caldwell says he's a future starter.

EDIT: Oh man, I think we just got ANOTHER steal. Luke Bowanko. I think he'll end up being like Austin Pasztor, a lineman every team in the NFL overlooked and will end up being a good one at center. He was the leader of the Virginia offensive line and Pasztor took orders from him in 2011. He was one of the few players to hold his own against Aaron Donald one-on-one (along with Linder who we took yesterday) and was the only center to come in for a visit with the Jags. Caldwell is doing work right now.

>reminder JJ Watt got sonned by Austin Pasztor last year

GOAT DRAFT

CALDWELL I LOVE YOU

I don't know what this feeling is. A competent GM? A draft that makes sense? I don't even.....

Well, I loved our first three picks. Benjamin and Ealy could potentially be something at the next level. Turner isn't a household name but had he stayed at LSU another year, he could've been a first round prospect in 2015. We'll see how they affect The Panthers' starting line up this upcoming season.

I think they overdrafted Kelvin. Should have gone with Allen Robinson if they wanted a tall deep threat with breakaway speed (not that I'm complaining :D).

We could've drafted Lee too but Proehl, Rivera and Gettleman were impressed with Benjamin's run blocking, massive frame, brute strength, catching radius (for those familiar with Boxing and MMA -- he has an 81 inch reach), body control and deceptive athleticism. His only weaknesses are his routes and consistency (on routine catches).

If Kelvin develops, we could have the next Larry Fitzgerald/Brandon Marshall on our hands... BUT I won't get ahead of myself.

Telvin Smith and Chris Smith great value in the 5th. AJ McCarron, Zach Mettenberger, and Aaron Murray are all still on the board. Wow. I thought at least one of them would go in the first 3 rounds.

EDIT: And Murray just went to KC.

EDIT 2: And McCarron just went off. lol, Murray and McCarron going back to back.

Yeah, I'm really surprised it took the 5th and 6th rounds to see those guys go. I didn't expect first rounders or anything, but I certainly thought 3rd or 4th.

ESPN will proceed to talk about him more than they do about Peyton.

That simply isn't possible. I bet on the episode of Rick and Morty with all the alternate TV dimensions there was an ESPN where everyone was Peyton doing nothing but talking about Peyton all the time.

Colin Cowheard will talk about Michael Sam a lot on his radio show on Monday.

That's the thing, I think Kelvin is a finished product. He's already 23. But we'll see.

Both of them are first round grade fits for our scheme.

I think the Rams is the best place for Michael Sam. I hope it works out for him.

Actually, Benjamin is considered a Boom-or-Bust pick because he only has 2-3 years of actual football experience. So he's very raw. The danger here is that Kelvin may not realize his potential in time.

Carolina has been on a roll for a while with our first round picks. We've selected studs virtually every time. Hopefully the streak continues.

And congrats on your draft. You guys picked quite a few players I wanted The Panthers to take like T. Smith (met with him twice) but his failed test probably got him knocked out of our draft board.

Glad to see the Rams picked Sam up. I hope it works out for him.

I hope Johnny Football keeps his nickname and persona. We need more colorful personalities in sports. It's still entertainment after all.

Yeah that thing he does with his hands isn't annoying in the slightest.

Well, loved the draft the Browns put together. Shame about the possible Gordon year long suspension.. Hoping it can get knocked to 6 since its a second offense if its all true.

Bring on the season!

WTF ???!!! 49ers take RB Carlos Hyde. We have too many RBs already!!!

Gore is getting old and LaMichael James wants out for more playing time. I like James though so I'd like him given more time.

But then what good is Lattimore for?? If the logic is that Lattimore is not as good as first thought, they essentially wasted a pick on him last year.

Baalke made it clear that James is the PR, so that means the 49ers weren't looking for him to have a lot of carries in 2014. That leaves the aging Frank Gore and Lattimore, whose health/effectiveness is still in question. Hyde increased the chances that the 49ers find their post-Gore franchise RB.
