The Dark Knight No Joker scenes will be cut

Warner Bros is currently showing "The Dark Knight" to test audiences, who seem to be complaining about the same scene in the movie, which is being described as inappropriate. The scene shows The Joker, played by Heath Ledger, hiding in a body bag. It is obviously not meant to reflect Ledger's recent, tragic death, but audiences seem to be too sensitive to handle it. So, with editing still going on, it has been assumed that Warner Bros would remove the scene completely.

Now, MovieHole got in touch with a source close to "The Dark Knight," who revealed that nothing of Ledger's will be cut from the movie, including the bodybad scene. "I know for a fact that that scene is in the film," said the source. "I also know that WB has made no such mandate and that Chris [Nolan] is honest when saying that he will not change what was intended with The Joker."

Sounds like good news to me; I would hate to see any of Ledger's performance be compromised due to a tragic event. Let's not make a bad situation, worse.

I dont think it would be disrespectful whatsoever . that scene might have been something heath ledger was proud of . the more we get of the joker the better because that is all we are going to have left of heath's legacy.

I wouldn't want Heath's great work as the Joker cut out of TDK. Mr. Ledger was really proud of his preformance. And that's what we all want to see. Heath as the Clown Prince of Crime.

Yea I know, he gave is all for this movie, and everyone could tell,he wouldn't like that they cut his perfomance out.

Pretty much. On the topic of this scene being cut. It seems really doubtful. This flick seems to mean a lot to Nolan and I am sure honoring Heath's performance means a lot to him to. I think it's rather laughable when you overhear people complaining about things they virtually know nothing about. When everyone was clearing out of I am Legend I heard quite a few parents say things like "that's supposed to be a Batman movie" and "well how am I supposed to take my kids to see that?"
Bleh, I hate yuppie parents who think they know it all.

Heath was an actor, and I'm sure regardless of the situation(s) at hand, he'd want the world to see his performance, let alone his very last.

It would be disrespectful to cut any scenes at all, IMO.

I don't think it's disrespectful one bit. I mean, if a scene doesn't work in the final edit, then it doesn't work. It's plain and simple as that. The actor in the scene itself usually has no bearing on those sorts of things.

I know he wasn't specific, but he may have meant taking scenes out for any reason other than the one you gave - like removing the alleged "body bag scene" because it may offend people for reasons outside the film itself.

Yea, sorry I didn't make my point clearer.

You shouldn't take out a scene just for the fact that people, not even related to Heath himself, are getting upset about it.

If it doesn't fit in the storyline or the rhythm of the film, then do it.

"Screen door on a submarine you dork" :D

"Its *Leave* you idiot! *make like a tree & leave* "

Well you can't really put it like that though, that's like calling families or friends of someone who was on Flight 93 "sensitive *****es" like you said when watching Flight 93 for the first time.

They Shouldn't watch it then

I feel the same. it's like the Twin Towers scene in the Spidey Trailer. Why did they cut it? wouldn't that be honoring that they still stood?

Just throwing something out there, but I recently read Batman: Lovers and Madmen and I could not help but get a huge Heath vibe from that book's Joker.

Has anyone else read that story?

to cut any of Heath's scenes from TDK, coincidental or not...would be a huge insult to his performance...period. I'm sorry but my overall feeling tells me that if TDK cracks 400m...and the academy doesn't recognize Ledgers performance at the oscars...it would be a huge disservice to hollywood. Maybe thats over eager...but I believe that Ledger gave his life to this role...and tragically...the world has lost a great talent...if they cannot embrace the emotional effect this will have on people when they watch TDK...then they (the academy/oscars) are out of touch...

Nolan has already remarked on this saying that Heath would want that scene and every other scene he did in the movie, so there's no reason to take it out.

Personally I think people should grow up a little and start using their heads. The movie was filmed PRIOR to Heath's death with no intention of seeing Heath dead in the near future. Heath died accidently. In no way should that mandate the fact that that scene is in the movie. His death was in no way relavent to filming that scene and has no connection to it other than the fact that he died.

Besides, the only people allowed to complain about any kind of visual regarding Heath's death are his family and close friends. If you don't like it, don't see it.

Good for them not editing it! People live people die. It is sad when they die so young, but still...
