No other superhero movie could compare to Ang's Hulk

I have no problem with that, all i'm saying is that there is much kudos to give for all the hard work and yeah BRING IT ON Louis-TIH!

The question is erronous. The question should be what other movie compares. You are basing your question on your opinion. If you want dialogue you could suggest the question what could compare.

As a hulk fan I do not believe that you ask questions that way however. It is the same with comments about "who could EVEN stand up to the hulk."

As for what could compare ... wait 63 days and you will have your answer. GR will be interesting, different and inspiring. Ang's vision was great but when the CGI took over the film; well he jumped the shark. That and having Nick Nolte. Wow, did they even have to prep his hair?:whatever:

3 years have gone and still have my doubts about this movie. I enjoyed watching it in the cinema, I thought the desert part was quite interesting as an action-sequence. It worked good in the big screen.

CGI Hulk... don't know what to think yet. Some parts are very well done, some other aren't.

The dogs... it's ok. it was a good fight in the trees :/

The fight with his dad.... BAD, BAD , BAD , BAD. That last part fighting in the water was absolutely not necessary, too much fantasy there.

Overall... I don't think is a bad movie, it had its up and lows, but I still can't make a solid statement about this movie, it gets confusing at times.

the whole film was dull, there was no empathy generated at all, the point was that each side has good guys and badguys, but it ended up being that there was no-one that the audience cared about.

Why not? You're talking about the moneymaking? Hell, no. The rest? Pretty much as fine or better on the Hulk.

Whatever you say about the Hulk movie, one thing is certain.. It's definitely better than the TV series! Some people complained that the Hulk was too powerful in the movie. These were people who were only familiar with the TV series, not the comic. This Hulk ain't gonna die from a fall from an airplane!

Overall, I liked the movie a lot. I bought it twice, first on vhs (didn't have a dvd player then) & later on dvd. I also thought Bana did a great job.

Ang Lee is considered to be as 1 of the greatest movie helmers of our time(i loved his work).
Although it did not made great in the box office for the current measure of success as most people believes, it took the character of the Hulk into a different level of reality and inspired the few who admires the greatness of the arts and literary works. The only thing that made people not like that film as much was because it wasn't the Hulk that we grew up with(not so closely related with the comics), but immagine if the Hulk was a legend like the warriors of Mu dhan in ancient China thousands of years ago? We would have viewed this film differently, i say put the comics aside for a while and see the movie for what it is and then you'll see a masterpiece that no other superhero films could be compared to it.

First of all, the title of this thread is a joke. Secondly, the hulk isn't a thousand year old ancient chinese legend, he's a 1960s golden age comic book character. If a film is going to be made about him, at least stick to the damn source material instead of creating something entirely different and trying to pass it off as a hulk movie. Ang may be a good director but he botched it with this one. The hulk movie is abundantly deep but has no lasting appeal. Its completely missable :o

what a load of hog.

....did you watch the same movie I did? Because troy did exactally the opposite of that. It heroized Hector, in fact, Achillies came across as the bad guy.

It was different then the original story in the Illiad too, in that Achillies seems even more the hero, seeing as how it was written from the Greek perspective.

yeah... Hulk so much better than that crap

Actually superman returns was a combination of Hulk filmography(some scenes were strangely similar to Hulk)and Spiderman drama, except supes didn't cry in the movie, as not to deviate from the macho image. Hulk cried a bit in the end of the film, well that is acceptable because he is not devoid of emotions, he is an emotional being. Anyways TIH is coming so I think Hulk's gonna make good this time. YAY!!!!lol

Hulk is second only to Spider-Man for me in my favorite comic book adaptions. X-Men rounds off at third. A lot of people were angered by the lack of source material in the story, but after reading the Essentials I can say with all certainty that Stan Lee's Hulk followed what could possibly be the most droll archetypical plot I've read in a long time (and I'm being positive). I think Ang Lee did a great job realizing that the film should be more than just about the next Hulkout and in putting more in Bruce Banner than the occasional scientific line. I'd cut the Hulk dogs to minimalize David Banner's involvement and perhaps compensate by extending the Hulk's fight with The Father, but that's just me.

Little observation I've made- one of the biggest gripes I've heard about Hulk is that it didn't have enough of the Hulk in the beginning, yet Batman Begins and Ghost Rider both wait until midway in the film to show you the title characters. No issues there, but issues galore with the Hulk...? Hmm.

Im sure to lee ang hulk was just another movie to make. and Im sure he did'nt do any research. his hulk to me was very very disappointing, crappy,
a tall green hillbilly and had the nervese to have hulk with a part in his hair. lee ang should of call it the adventure of green giant "ho,ho,ho" for God sake fighting huge dog's??? and his dad?? give me a f-king break. it should of been some serious a.s.s. kicking through out the whole movie and no one would know who won til the last 30 sec. of the movie after the dust set sides. not a green jethro bodine fighting elly may clampett 2 critters (dogs)

...lol

Ang Lee made a deeply pyschology film and thats not the average superhero. The average film is usuallu the same cliche type of story. Superman Returns sucked, now that was a piece a crap. All the Superman films seem to make Lex look weaker and weaker. Brian Donner should not make the sequal.

SR generates mixed feeling from people, although overall, people consider it greater than HULK, which is def my opinion, as I hated SR first time round, yet upon another viewing, I found it wonderful.

Hulk, attempted a lot, it must be given credit for trying things, however it did fail in most of these adventures. The tone was very inconsistant throughout and the variations in mood etc really didn't flow, especially as the narrative was poorly worked.

My major problem with HULK, is that it's very inconsistant, it tries to be emotional and serious, then throws in ridiculous moments that weaken any emotional response. It claims to be an impresssive character arc, yet only advances minimally for most of the film. The action sequences seem very out of place a lot of the time, and the narrative is tragically weak, and considering it's length, it covers hardly anything in terms of story or character:csad: Just dopped in to read a few of these posts and yours is the only one that really makes any sense. How anybody can hail this tripe as a masterpiece should seriously seek help. Most people in the audience were either fast asleep or leaving within the first 45 minutes. The plot line was drawn out and absurd. And "yes", the "Hulk" doggies were quite lame. Crusher (*Nick Nolte*) Creel was way over the top and a cop-out. And the line where Banner says, "I like it", when decribing about becoming the Hulk is "WRONG"! Banner is haunted and tormented by
becoming this mindless monster. That line alone takes away the pathos and innocence of Banner's character. Either way, Ang is a dolt and should stay on his mountain!

HOWEVER, I'm VERY MUCH looking forward to 'the incredible hulk' and believe it will be a superior film to HULK.
I too have high hopes for this "new" Hulk flick. I'm hoping that they start from stratch and forget their previous fiasco. 'nuff.

The New Hulk will certainly have impressive feats as far as LL is known for his reputation is concerned. I'm just appreciating the first film because a lot of hard work was poured into it, everybody did their part, sadly it wasn't the Hulk everybody wanted to see. But that was epic in every aspect as for my opinion.
