Sequels No X4 Confrimed As Of Now....who Really Cares About Spinoffs Honestly

Despite the fact that X-Men: The Last Stand pulled in about $196 million in just four days worldwide (it cost approximately $210 million to make), Marvel Studios' Avi Arad tells Variety that they are going to move forward with the two spin-off movies instead of X-Men 4:

A big second frame decline is thus likely. But with nearly $200 million in domestic grosses by next weekend a virtual lock, Fox execs won't be shedding too many tears.

More likely, they'll be talking to their partners at Marvel about the next step for the franchise, since "Last Stand" was supposed to be the final film in a trilogy.

"The first reaction, which we should discard, is here comes 'X-Men 4,'" said Marvel Studios topper Avi Arad. "We're working on 'Wolverine,' which is definitely a continuation, and we have a very interesting script about a young Magneto."

We wouldn't be surprised if Fox does indeed talk to Marvel Studios about a fourth movie considering the phenomenal numbers the third installment has already brought in. We'll keep you updated on the spin-offs and if there's any other developments.

I hope they realize, that peple will not pay to see a Wolverine movie. I remember the other day as I was coming out of the x3 theater, a young boy asked his mom if they were really making a Wolverine movie, and she said "I hope not". Thats the general reaction, people are tired of Wolverine now.

The franchise could continue with plenty of movies, just like the Bond series. They just have to take advantage of it.

Well yeah, patience, i honestly believe this "Last Stand" being the last movie, all one big marketing ploy, my bet is they made this movie with all intents and purposes of making an X4(i.e. givin Halley Berry a big role, and leading her character into being an even more important character in a sequel) stuff like that

i don't have a problem with Wolverine though because you know it will make tons, i've read that many people consider Wolverine the second most popular comic book hero in Marvel history behind Spiderman, so it would only make sense to do a Wolverine movie, and for Xfans, we should all like it, cause (fingers crossed) X4 may sway from logan as a main character and only use him for sweet action stuff, and let a Gambit or so be the main character

i don't have a problem with the spin-offs as long as they make an X4 in 2-4 years too

I would not be too thrilled with a spinoff, unless it's a Jean Grey spinoff. I don't know if I'd pay to see a solo Wolverine movie...or even Magneto.

What they first need to do is figure out how the handle the franchise properly. Just because they made 210 million worldwide this past weekend doesn't excuse the way they handled this production.

Those numbers are solely based on great marketing and good will created by the previous films.

Spend at least a year developing the fourth film before you even remotely decide to start shooting the damn film. Don't do a repeat of the production follies of The Last Stand.

The Wolverine film has already been in development for a year. That's how you properly take care of your property.

there won't be an X4, and nor should there be. the X-films work well as a trilogy. there's a sense of conclusion with X3. sure, there are some threads left dangling, as there should be, but a fourth film would be a mistake of phantom menace proportions.

the fourth instalment is cursed. in the whole history of movie franchises, only rocky has managed to make a decent fourth film.

consider jaws 4, nightmare on elm street 4, the phantom menace (in fact the whole prequel trilogy for that matter), batman and robin, thunderball, superman IV, alien resurrection, etc, etc...all utter cobblers that the world could have done without.

For me, they got it right with the first two. The Last Stand feels like a rushed film. And it's no wonder, considering the production history.

At least with the Wolverine spinoff, David Benioff has been writing the script for almost a year, by himself. That's proper development. That's proper planning.

I like Wolverine, however I've played the video game and have a few figures. Enough is enough, I'm not going to pay to see a Wolverine movie we all know where he is coming from. Avi bring Cyclops back too. That hairy dude in the hospital bed is Stewart with a beard that was a nice touch.
