I apologize if this has been asked before:

Is it possible for Marvel to just buy out the X-men movie rights from FOX and just pull a Batman Begins by redoing the franchise. I mean after the abomination we know as "The Last Stand", how many people give a crap about X4 or even the spinoffs? At this point, FOX is just milking a dead franchise.

i hated X-3, but i think potential is there for spinoffs, which would be OK, and maybe the holes left by X3 could be filled in, but who knows, As for I'm looking forward to Wolverine and Magneto, not so sure about the X4 rumour though, But i'd like to see them repair the damage...

No, theres a contract in place for Fox to have the rights until 2020 i believe (please someone say its sooner). But when Marvel do get the rights back, theres no need to remake the franchise. Just leapfrog over TLS and remake X-3. If they consider remaking 2 films that are near perfect IMO then why not just start before the damage was done instead of bulldozing a perfect structure?

I think the damage has already been done. It seems obvious to me. I always viewed X-men from a comic book standpoint to be much more broad compared to the movies. I just could never get over a lot of the changes. Not saying I completely hated the franchise, but their were changes to the story that I could not understand as well as things that were just ignored. For example can anyone honestly say that taking Sabertooth and Deathstrike out of Wolverine's past was a good idea? It just made Wolverine appear more of a 2 dimensional character. I still can't believe that some people are saying that the movie version of Wolverine is better than the comic book.

I'd like a fresh start/ complete re-do as well. But the damage has already been done. Marvel is far too concerned about milking every penny they can get from the X-franchise with no concern about quality, so I doubt anyone at Marvel even cares.

I don't think they can just hit the reset button and release a new X-Men movie in two years with different actors and the characters written as they should be. It's going to take probably 10 years for that to happen, and even longer if the Wolverine movie is successful (which I highly doubt it will be).

I hope one day someone at Marvel or Fox will wise up and give the X-franchise to someone who actually cares about X-Men comics (someone like Joss Whedon) and does an X-Men film that actually lives up to the comics.

Fox has the "live action" film rights. If I were marvel I would take a chance and produce an animated flick.

I would like to see a few spin offs that start off as sequels but then go into extensive flashbacks. Maybe have an Xavier spin off that fill the gap where they explain how Cain Marko and Charles Xavier are step brothers.
