So almost every character has got his own thread besides the leading man. So ladies and gentlemen, lets discuss Sam Witwicky, descendant of the great Archibald Witwicky.

I think it suits him more than wimpy Sam...

He seems a bit tougher in ROTF to be honest...

After being so dorky (and lets face it, his face is dorky) in TF, i couldnt buy that he was a hardass in Indiana Jones.
But as you say, he was tougher in ROTF.

Regardless of what people say about Shia, I think his role in Transformers is for him, the humor, the action...back when I was younger and watched Even Stevens I thought he was funny, but never really saw him going anywhere. And then he seemed to get played out being the comedic side-kick to other major actors (Constantine anyone?) But I've grown to like him, thanks to Sam Witwicky.

I'd argue he's the best thing in the franchise. He's acting opposite chihuahuas, towering robots and the pneumatic Megan Fox and yet still holding the audience's attention. That's skill and charisma. Frankly, ILM's effects aside, he's the franchises' MVP.

I like his character, I like both Mutt and Sam and fell Shia acts them both well. I liked Sams character better in the second cuz Sam gets braver and knows what he's doing.

I'm impressed that Shia upgraded his improv from "Nonononono" to shouting Transformer names really loudly.........

As for Sam, I really do like the character since he is indeed quite funny and nowhere near as annoying as some of the other characters in the movie. Just look at all of Shia's on screen conversations with Mikaela to see just what he has to work with.

I like the part when they are alone together in Egypt and its dark and quiet. They're talking... and all of the sudden Sam gets up while changing the subject.

Every thread about a character has a silly name most often from the character's quote. Way to suck all the fun out of everything.

I think Sam has been great in the franchise and i think Shia is great as him. Shia has that down to earth charm that makes it easy to relate to the character.

And no matter what people's claims are about no characters developing in the movie, Sam definately did, he was not the same character as in TF1, and they developed him great IMO.

I don't think she can or should fix the Autobots, that's Ratchet's job after all.

Meh... the whole charm of Sam and Mikaela is that they arent soldiers. We get to take a break from all the action and the explosions every now and then and take a look at their normal lives. Prime doesnt have a double identity like Batman. Whereas you get to see Bruce behave like a dick in a few scenes, you cant do that with Prime. So they use Sam and Mikaela. So I wouldnt like to see them in the army because the whole movie would be shot in army bases and battlefields. Besides, the whole point of the characters is that they are normal people that are tangled along in a big battle of giant robots. You cant have the autobots and soldiers only because it would get boring. Sam's everyday life is one of the good parts of the movies for me.
We have Lennox and Tyrese. We dont need another Lennox or another hacker. Sam is a college kid, not a soldier.

Yes I agree with this, he was one of the few characters who really developed. He was not afraid of the robots any more, he was willing to fight and knew what to do.

Yeah, what the hell were they thinking when they came up with Spike? Just because G1 used this name doesnt mean that Sam has to get it as a nickname or name his kid. Goddamn!
