NSA creates national database of phonecalls...major phone companies help

If you fail at standing for freedom, take freedom. Then you will succeed at standing for nothing.

The tragedy of any democracy is that life eventually becomes so comfortable that it inevitably falls asleep at the switch, and that's when the fascists come out of the woodwork...

The NSA can suck it! So can the phone companies! So can anyone who supports this. :)

what is the NSA?

The National Security Agency, it's like the CIA, except that it handles 80% of the intelligence workload. The NSA unofficially holds most of the political and military influence in the American power structure.

And some people don't even know it exists.

People that have nothing to hide hide nothing.

I really don't care as long as I'm not a Islamic extermist.

They only save messages with key words: Bomb, President, Allah, Jihad stuff like that. Then there reviewed by a NSA worker.

Back on topic, this crap with the NSA might be sufficient motive for me to make that move to VOIP phone service I've been considering.

They can listen into all my phone calls....but if they do they'll get pretty bored...lol

I have it (VOIP) but I've heard that they have a few problems though.

911 can be an issue and if the power goes out, so does your phone, but other than that it seems to be fairly reliable. A guy I work with has been using SunRocket.com and really loves 'em. $199 per year with every feature you can imagine AND you get a number to park in another area code as well, so if you have family across the country or something, then they can dial you through a local number. Pretty cool.

The 911 feature was the only problem that I had with the VOIP service but since everyone in my family also has a cell phone, at this point didn't seem like a big deal but we're gonna be cautious about it. My uncle has the Sun Rocket service but I personally use Lingo as my VOIP service.
