Anyone who uses the word "rape" in a post about a movie they don't like has absolutely no credibility.

If you think this is rape then go to prison and a nice fat black man will show you real rape.

Not sure why this needs to be there, but you've lost what little credibility you had.

there is a lot of stuff that i dont like from this movie. but i just can not agree with an opinion that dragonball should be serious or that its bad like street fighter.

i wouldn't say that this movie is Legend of Chun-Li level of suckdome, but i'd say that this is the DB equivalent of Legend of Chun-Li. that movie just plain out sucks, but that movie is also based on a video game with a flaky storyline in the first place. considering that DB has a much more stable story and characters, it's obvious that this movie was gonna be better just because of those things.....but that's not saying much. this production is nowhere near what the DB series deserves as it's intro into live action.

Yes, my point is you were overreacting.
funny...because i feel that many people who love what they're seeing in these clips are overreacting as well. still, i don't feel the need to trash their credibility.

the acting was zero in the SF movie. you could already see it in the trailer. the action and the whole movie was cheap. not saying that this DB movie looks expensive. compared to TF,batman,..... it looks more cheaper. but SF looked cheap even for a low budget movie.

I liked the clips. Piccolo sounds and looks great, Master Roshi is more like Roshi than I expected and Emmy looks great as Bulma. My only problem is Chatwin. I haven't seen the right clips with him yet, to get any Goku vibe from him.

Chun Li was terrible in every aspect of film making. There was very little promotion. DB:E has toys/posters/games/viral marketing/books/worldwide releases. Better acting besides Chi Chi way better fights.

its time to accept that this goku will not be the happy goku. maybe in the sequel

Both of these films cost $50 million more to make, so that really isn't a surprise.

but honestly can you take someone seriously with a straight face who says a movie rapes their childhood.

Goku can be serious and angry at times geez he is a teenager in the movie it mean if grandfather just died and in 7 days he has to save the world how happy can he be?

that's the reason why I think a just all out clueless dumb Goku wouldn't work for this movie. I mean, hell he even disobeyed his master when Krillen got killed.

Dragonball is a parody

DBE is a movie :whatever:\

can you take anyone on the internet seriously?
No not really, but there are some pretty pathetic people on the Internet nowadays, the Internet has become this freedom zone, where people can say what they want when they want. And it's become this obsessive trend that has ruin some lives

if it's either Street Fighter or this movie, then yes. those movies are the closest that any movie house has gotten to 'raping childhoods'. they're exploiting some of our favorite childhood franchises by providing movies with minimal quality just to make a quick buck. if that's not boning the fans in the @$$ then i don't know what is.

even if he's not happy, he doesn't have to act like a snotty brat the way Chatwin seems to be portraying Goku.

Based on those previews, I think DB:E, while not an exact translation of DB, certainly does carry its spirit well while accommodating for a young audience. For instance, Roshi's pervyness wasn't too over the top or offensive yet still fits closely enough to his animated counterpart.

As for Goku not being happy go lucky in the film, I would like to point out that even in the manga/anime, Goku was only goofy when not having a task/quest at hand and the world and his friends aren't in danger. In those situations, he's a lot more serious. And since the movie establishes that the world is in peril and his grandfather just died, it makes sense for him to be serious (while still having some slapstick silliness).

The snotty brat thing is a bit of an exaggeration. He's a bit of a wise ass, but not in an offensive way. That's as far as it really goes though.

i'll admit that Chatwin playing him as a shotty brat IS an exaggeration but i don't think it's TOO much of an exaggeration. it's no more of an exaggeration than saying Roshi was hilarious or Piccolo was badass.

regardless of the exaggeration, i think it's becoming more and more clear that they could've picked someone better for Goku.

I honestly think they could have picked any actor and he will still give the same performance. It's all in the writing. If the writing was more faithful to Goku's personally I'm sure Chatwin could pull it off.

a different actor automatically means a different performance. Chatwin has always done roles that require him to be somewhat of a brat, which is probably why he's sort of acting like one in this movie. i understand that the writing isn't anything to write home about, but an actor CAN improvise and inject his own take into the character that he's playing. if he wanted Goku to feel more uplifting and likable then he could've acted that way. instead he plays Goku almost like he has played all of his past roles.

I never expected the acting to be on the quality of There Will Be Blood. I'm just hoping for an amusing/entertaining PG action movie as this is all the movie is going to be. Still it'd be cool if they cast Daniel Day Lewis as Vegeta or something. I'd pay money to see that in a sequel. :-P

not with a Fox movie

the script was written as Goku as a highschool teen who becomes the hero, basically the Peter Parker cliche, and that's what Chatwin is giving, I just think that if the script reflected more of the Goku we want, Chatwin could do a better job.

I'm if they picked your choice for Goku but his character was still written as a snotty highschool teen then that's what you're going to get
