My Review: 2/10
Ok, guys so I watched Dragonball Evolution Saturday Night, thinking to see some sweet ass James Marsters villain acting. Boy was I disappointed. I would love to sit here and tell you all the million things wrong with this movie but I'll just give the pros and cons from my opinion. Oh by the way, if you're wondering where I saw the movie, I never told anyone I live in Tokyo with my Uncle who is in the Airforce.
but now, I'll start with the pros:
- Bulma and Mai's eye candy. Yes, Rossum's acting is nothing more than bland and Ekira's role is as useless and confusing as ever. But they are both very, very hot,....and that's about it.
- For me, this is more of pro/con.. but the acting is so bad, you can't help but to laugh, and this is what I call entertainment. but wait...
-The ki blasts, were ok, I like the auras as well
-Chow Yung Fat - you might see better acting for him in many other movies. but I'm glad he was there to gives us a few gags.
- I think Ernie Hudson looked cool in this movie
- I liked the fact they used some of the original Japanese names, like the name for the 4 star ball, and the dragon being called Shenlong, and the Mafuba being called Mafuba instead of Evil Containment Wave
- and Finally James Marster's little screen time was the only thing that gave me a smile
now for the cons... (crackes knucles)
- Justin Chatwin - at first, I thought Chatwin could be good, but I was wrong, terrible acting.
-Jamie Chung - nice boobs, terrible acting
- Joon Park - Has the perfect IQ and personally for Yamcha, after all, he is the ladies man in Asia. But his character was written very ****** and given crappy dialogue.
- The plot - if I can get a dollar for every plot whole in this movie, I can get that new PS3 I wanted
- Length- 86 mins just doesn't cut it. The whole movie feels likes the sequence from the Anime where they show you clips for the next Episode. you know.."Next Time..on Dragonball Z!"
- The awesome 9 minute final battle - the last battle is such a rip off, after all the team from the matrix where working on it, well... where the hell was it, all we see is Goku and Piccolo throwing ki blasts at each other and then they collide and they levitate in the air punching each other, that's the only physical contact they have with each other. Then here comes...
- The Kamehameha wave - major disappointment - not only was executed terribly, but it was also incredibly short and pointless, if you're going to use the Kamehameha wave to finish off the villain, at least use common sense to make it more relevant that the blast actually hurt. I mean it just barely hits Piccolo and he's falls back unconscious ..WTF and why in the hell did Chatwin fly towards him while doing it. They didn't even check to see if he was finished, they act as if he was never there.
-why does the baby in the flashback of gohan finding him look Asian and have jet black hair and eyes. Why was he in a meteor, this isn't Superman, he was in a freaking space pod for goodness, they can't get the most simple things correct
- Shenron - I seen this in the leaked scene but it's actually a lot more humorous in the theater, the only thing I have to same about this scene is ...."Dragon!!!!!"..... where???? oh that thing? wtf...that's shenron?
- the freaking Ninja Turtles high kick in the air frame freeze to end the movie... absolutely lame, come on now, this is 2009, nobody does that **** in movies anymore.
I hope Fox doesn't even touch DBZ screw that, just leave us alone
Power Rangers the movie was more entertaining than this

, hell Power Rangers was the **** back then
but....
I just blame Fox in hiring Ben Ramsey in the first place, and making such a rushed, careful production of a franchise that doesn't deserve that treatment. They don't give a damn about Dragonball, they shouldn't have even brought the rights.
I also speak out against Stephen Chow, who could have directed this movie and made it the fun Dragonball movie we deserve. But this guy says he only directs movies written originally by him. But then he's announced direct The Green Hornet. Stephen Chow is still my guy, but I'm just mad he didn't put much effort, and Fox didn't use him. Kung Fu Hustle did pretty well in the U.S for subtitled movie.
I speak out against James Wong, who basically kissed Fox's ass knowingly that they were butchering his movie. If I was him I would stay away from Fox. I know James Wong did not want this movie like this, I know deep down inside he wishes he could make the movie from scratch without Fox ruining his decisions.
on the side
I give thanks to James for his enthusiasm and trying to bring Piccolo into a bad character and his loyalty to the manga. unfortunately, he was underused and was giving crappy screen time.
I give sympathy to Chatwin for he was not ready for this role, and he must have had a stressful experience, after all, half the internet wants his head hung...
Overall, Fox needs to stop making movies, or they need to serious get some remodeling done in their staff. Because they hasn't a been a big box-office hit for them since... 07
I only seen 2 decent movies from Fox so far.. Taken and Australia
Kill Tom Rothman and bury him with Sudam Hussain
that's all I have to say
