I wouldn't mind having a more "realistic" art style, but you can never go wrong with the watercolor/cel shading art style they're using.

I think it says a lot about how stagnant this series is when fans can't comprehend a protagonist who is neither Link nor Zelda.

Maybe this game will have multiple protagonists? Maybe a wholly new one? Maybe you'll be able to design your own?

Use your imagination people.

Because in the original game Link didn't have a solid name. Legend of Zelda but it is LINK's story..

I wonder if there's anyone who named their Link "Zelda."

so...."Zelda" goes off to rescue Princess Zelda.............

total confusion ensues!!!! :oldrazz:

Eh, really, the plot and story doesn't matter all that much to these games. A certain subset of fans get way into it, but really, the games have always been traditionally Nintendo in the sense of gameplay first, story/plot/characters a distant second.

EDIT: Or well, actually, probably a distant third, truthfully. Environment is probably second.

You know.. If you can design your own hero/heroine.. That would be amazing. They always said they wanted to put the player in the game.. Hero creation would do that..

I'd be fine with that, too!

if that's the case, maybe Link acts as your "mentor" of sorts.

Hero creation would be cool. It's not as if Link ever actually has a personality anyway, so it doesn't matter all that much.

I would enjoy a protagonist with a personality personally.

The manga's won me over on that, even though most give Link a fairly generic heroic personality.

I remember an interview where Miyamoto discussed the idea of a Zelda game with a party, I was hoping he would revisit that some day.

I would love for a character with a personality (I've never been a fan of non-character main characters), but I think most would end up hating it. Most people have built up their own perception of who or what Link is over the years that whatever we get will get criticized from all ends.

Happened a lot with Metroid. People **** all over that for being so out of character, despite the fact that the character never really had a character to begin with. I mean, it's one thing to just not like a characterization, but there seemed to be very little objectivity to the majority of criticism. People were just mad that they didn't get their Samus. I could see that going four times for Link, since his series are bigger and more iconic.

That would be badass.

in fact, the more I think about that, the more I like that idea.

Skyrim, Dragon, Mass Effect, I love those RPGs in large part because you can create your own character and customize him/her.

If the new Zelda strives to be more "open world" maybe they will adopt that route also.

can't wait to learn more about this game.

Link being your mentor would be eh to me. I don't feel like there would be any point to it.

I'm one of the few fans that want Link to have a voice. I'm over the while mute thing.. The whole series needs a great voice cast now. I often play games late at night and reading as much as Zelda has you read.. I can get tired easily. :p

I honestly want to Link to be like he was in the old cartoon. You know the one. "Oh Princess, PPPPLLLLLEEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEE!"

The meltdowns would be epic

WELL EXCUUUUUUUUSE MEEEE PRINCESS!

Yes. Please.. Make it happen. As long as Mega Man never sounds like a frog.

It would be interesting to see Link in a supporting role, even if he is playable. I have been a fan of the idea of multiple protagonists for a long time.

The concept of diverging story lines, has so much potential. Especially if characters are on opposing sides.

It's interesting that the possibility of playing as Zelda has fans clinging to tradition, while the new open world doesn't. As a fan of SS, WW, TP, and OoT, my biggest concern is playing an Elder Scrolls game called the Legend of Zelda, not whether or not the protagonist will be a woman. I don't like Skyrim for a reason.

It's not going to be Skyrim though. They said they are returning it to basics so it will still have dungeons, puzzles, and boss fights.

The new one looks so much better than that tech demo. What a beautiful art style. Looks almost like a painting.

oh from both the old school zelda show and when they both showed up in the captain N Series and she had that even cooler look with her bow and arrows. I actually hope she has a battle wear similar to the on in captain N. I always wondered why that look was never put into smash bro's sorry I just think it's more practical the the dress. (it's just me ) but then again this is the first time we have zelda being apart of the fight for her kingdom with out a disguise. game series wise anyway. I miss those series.

Hello to everyone in the Zelda Community. I am currently visiting Los Angeles in the United States.

This year’s E3 has begun! Did you already have a chance to watch the Nintendo Digital Event that aired yesterday?

Many people from the media kept asking me if the footage from the new Zelda game for Wii U is just a promotional movie, but that really is actual gameplay on Wii U. Also, I wasn’t kidding about how you will be able to reach the mountains that appear in the distance if you should choose to!

I also got to talk about Hyrule Warriors on Nintendo Treehouse Live at E3 on the live internet show from E3 with Mr. Hayashi from Tecmo Koei Games. If you’re interested in hearing what we talked about, the videos will be posted soon so please check them out!
