It's kind of a fanservice thing. If they utilized this engine to make a new Zelda game then maybe.

I'm curious about this new game, but I also know that Dynasty Warrior games are a bit crap. I hope Nintendo pulls some quality control on it.

This "Hyrule Warriors" game has potential, I loved what they showed, and it looked good. We'll see how it goes...

Dynasty Warrior games are only crap because they're very shallow. I have no.doubt this.will be the same but I.have a feeling the fact that I'm a very cool looking Link will help me overcome that shallowness

That's fair. If I get to run about with Link just killing ****, that's fine. Still cautious though.

So, there was news about a Zelda game for Wii U in today's Nintendo Direct, but not the kind you probably expect.

This Spring will see the release of...wait for it....A game tentatively called Hyrule Warriors, created by Tecmo Koei, in the style of the Dynasty Warriors franchise.

I'm serious.

 Well Nintendo was going to give in eventually. All their franchises are all types of games nowadays.

I'm not a gamer. So I tend to not get into stuff that doesn't have Link, Batman, or Mario for the most part. What's Dynasty Warriors?

It's a hack n slash game but its very shallow, you can beat it by just hitting the x button

Yeah it was good fun at first, but every game is the same thing with little tweaks...like Madden or COD. Although the games sometime try to be more tactical.

It's the most basic of hack 'n slashes as in all you do is literally hack and slash hordes of enemies.....and.....nothing.....more. There's no real combat system, they are just....nothing more.

But they very popular in Japan, so I guess it's not totally out of the blue. Between this, MH, snd maybe DQ, Nintendo sort of has a big catalouge of Japanese loved 3rd party titles.

Okay, I have to admit, I did not see that coming.

Still, I'm willing to give it a chance. I actually liked some of the hack and slash games.

I do wish they gone with a more realistic style like a la Twilight Princess though.

I rather it have been Sengoku Basara if they they were gonna take that route. I know their nearly the same but I think that series is more popular. If not Dragon quest/worrior would have fit Hyrule warriors as their calling it far much better.

At least Dodongos look cool again.

I am curious what other characters there will be. These games usually have quite a few playable characters. Will they create some just for the game?

I've read some comments that this would fit Fire Emblem since you could have a huge list of heroes since that's part of DW's appeal.

Problem is that Fire Emblem isn't anywhere near as popular.

But yes, I could see that.

I think it's a safe bet we'll see some sort of incarnation of Zelda and Ganondorf.

They could certainly create some Gerudo, Goron, or Zora warriors just for this game.

I'll be buying it for sure. Love how Link looks and ill be hacking and slashing as Link

This is totally off topic, but this post really piqued my curiosity.

If you play video games, real games like Mario and Zelda at that, how are you "not a gamer"?

That's actually a really good question lol

I think that his way of saying he's a casual gamer which some people don't view as gamers at all . Even them selves. But he is one.

Never been a fan of Dynasty Warriors... This looks just as bad.

See, I'm not a gamer, so I got the definition wrong. :o

I always assumed "Gamer" was the video game equivalent of "movie buff"
