say it... yours Luda's and Ben's.. analysis have the most knowledge and depth...
I don't see Boston winning. I just don't. My primary gripe against the Celtics this year was that they're top 3 guys have never won anything. This is where that pays off. KG has historically disappeared in big games (at least never truly taken over), Ray Allen will be lucky if he can put his jersey on the right way and Pierce thinks he far better than he is.
Mamba is going to destroy this thing. That ******* lives for this type of stage. He's not going to have any hesitation about ripping Boston's heart out and they don't have anybody that can act like they can stop him. Best defensive team in the league, whatever. This is going to take a supreme team effort and I don't see anyone on the roster capable of championing the cause, nor the coach capable of rallying the troops. Do I really need to mention how huge of a disparity there is between Big Chief Triangle and Doc Rivers? Seriously. Doc Rivers. I'm expecting him to panic on his rotation selection and overthink trying to stop Bryant.
Truth be told, #24 isn't really the problem; it's the guys he's going to kick it to, who will convert, when practically dared to do so. I'd let Posey get him some and make it physical with Mamba. He's not going to hold him, but he'll do a respectable job. On the other hand, Pierce isn't going to do anything but wear himself out and limit his offensive contribution. Paying too much attention on the help rotation is going to leave Gasol in too favorable of a position to do damage. Lamar has been on it lately, and his versatility just stretches the defense and opens up passing/driving lanes. It's going to be a pick your poison type of deal; not so much out of necessity, but out of practice.
Boston could matchup well here, I believe they have the advantage on paper (Rondo could become a star in this series if presented the proper opportunity; think how Tony Parker just destroyed the Cavs last year because no one thought to simply knock him on his ass). However, I don't believe they have the intangibles to pull it off. The Finals is an entirely different beast. First sign of trouble and Beantown isn't going to know how to respond. While LA doesn't have as many vets, they've got a star and a coach who have been there before. That counts for a lot. I simply don't imagine Boston to have the requisite competence to pull this off on the game's biggest stage, especially when they seem so happy just to be there.
I hope to Ares I'm wrong.
btw why is Pierce crying... they havent won anything..
Because, outside of high school (presumably), this is as much as he's ever won. Oh, and he's a *****.
