they were cool for the first few weeks in the playoffs.

Then when they started mix and matching, thats when it got old.

The key is for Lakers to at least split the first two games, since they get 3 for Games 3-5 at Staples Center. Lakers have been undefeated at home and I think they can keep that streak alive against Celtics. It's gonna be an uphill battle against Boston, though.

As a Lakers fan, I'm confident about Lakers winning the Finals, but I have to admit that I'm nervous also. Celtics still have the best record in NBA during regular season (although they did it against a weak conference), and they do sport the "Big Three", so Kobe, Gasol, Odom, and rest of the Lakers have to play their best. However, Lakers' competitions in playoff of Nuggets, Jazz, and Spurs > Celtics' trio of Hawks, Cavs, and Pistons, so I think Lakers may be better prepared for the roads ahead.

I feel you Rai. I have a pretty good feeling that Kobe is going to really play hard all 4 quarters, not like the previous series where he only went insane in the second half, especially the 4th. btw i like what the guys on TNT and ESPN said " sorry Kyra Sedgwick, but Kobe is the Closer" lol

After much consideration, I think the Lakers will get it in 6. They should sweep Boston but no way Stern allows that to happen. I think Cassell has to play well if Boston has any chance but dude comes in and shoots every time, it's ridiculous. Kobe is going to hit 50 at least 3 times against Ray cuase of his magic words,"be careful what you wish for."

One thing that will be interesting in this Finals between Lakers and Celtics is that Phil Jackson is tied with Celtics' legendary coach Red Auerbach for 9 rings, and Phil has a chance to surpass Red in the # of championships. Red used to like to belittle Phil Jackson's accomplishments, by claiming that he always have superstars in his team that helped him win championships instead of homegrown talents (although Red had Bill Russell, who was just as much a superstar back then as Jordan was, and there were no FA so Red kept his team intact throughout those championship runs). My question is, if Celtics win, would Red have said the same thing to Doc Rivers? Because Doc had Pierce and got future HOFs in Allen and KG, and this trio of superstars can make a winner out of any ballclub. But I doubt Red would've said anything because it's his team Celtics.

I think Garnet and Gasol is the key to the series! If Garnett can stop Gasol which imo he can, the Celtics will win this series! Its all about stopping the lakers supporting cast not Kobe!

Well, they said the same thing about Duncan and Gasol, and while Duncan had several big games, Lakers shut down Ginobilli and Lakers won the series in 5. Garnett is a beast and he will get his numbers, but I don't think this series hinges on these two.

if we stop Ray Allen.. we are golden...

just like the spurs... no team can beat us with just TWO guys

Well the spurs just couldnt score enough pts. It wasnt by the great laker D, damn they had open shots that they just couldnt knock down! But I think the celtics have the best personal to slow down Kobe! I think the tag team of Posey and Peirce will do wonders for the celtics. They SHOULD put Pierce on Kobe. He's our best perimeter defender. He's a very underrated defender! He wasn't supposed to stand a chance of guarding LeBron. There was supposed to be nobody to stand in the way of LeBron putting up 40 a night, and it was definitely not gonna be Pierce. The fact is, Pierce has stepped up to the challenge of locking down anyone he's guarded this season. LeBron scored 27 per game against Boston on 36% shooting and with 5 turnovers a game. Prince scored 10 points a game, on 32% shooting. Paul Pierce has been one of the best defenders in the league this season. Its time to stop just going by reputation and start looking at what players have done defensively. And if you look at the Celtics vs Lakers games, Kobe shot 9-21 (43%) the first time, and 6-24 (25%) the second time. And locking up Kobe didn't seem to take any energy out of him either. In addition to locking Kobe up, he scored 35 through 3 quarters(he didn't play much the 4th since the game was such a blowout). Pierce guarded him almost all the time in each game. I'll trust past events and say that Pierce can do a good job on Kobe.

win or lose... you can NEVER call yourself a SEMI... quasi... casual..."oh i just want them to do well" fan of the Lakers... you cannot associate with them in ANYWAY ..shape or FORM...

NOFX(i will NEVER call you L.A. again) you are my friend and i like you... but... you have rooted against us since the start.... i dont care about this .. i dont wana see kobe do good.... Ben and J and MC... HATE kobe...

but they arent BIASED... and would never say "OUR" in association with a team thats NOT REALLY theirs... even if it is against a team thats playing the HATED Kobe...

thats sad really... i remember you saying once.. you are a CLIPPERS fan and kinda like the Lakers but didnt really like Kobe... but the use of the word OUR in association with the Celtics.. as if you were a Celtics fan all year.. is just astounding and UNFORGIVEABLE within the Lakers fan penal code....

sentence BANDWAGON BANISHMENT... TWO LIFE terms.. transferrable to your first born:o

p.s. be like all the OTHER Celtics fans.. and KEEP looking at the two MEANINGLESS regular season games..

It does seemed like NOFX jumped on the bandwagon of whomever that is playing against the Lakers. As for those two regular season games against the Lakers, just remember that Lakers didn't have Gasol in either of those two games back then. Lakers now are not the Lakers back then.

Ben and J and MC... HATE [Mamba]...
If someone kidnapped him before Game 1 or some court injunction came down, prohibiting him from playing in the series, I'd root for the Lakers hard.
