Billy Wagner had success in Philly and was still being booed every time he came out of the bullpen. Lidge won't last long. He's still suffering PTSD (thanks to Albert Pujols).

That never happened

I'm sorry, you're right. He was receiving death threats.

haha..your so ridiculous with your claims...if it was so bad why did he want to come back so bad??? The only reason he's not in a Phillies uniform today is because management was cheap, and went with the cheaper option of Gordon....(they also wouldn't agree to his no trade demand)

He probably thought he could get paid there. The fans and players weren't the reason he wanted to stay.

It's Olney Spidey Bat so....
Yankees, Padres discuss Peavy deal

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Yankees and Padres briefly discussed a trade that would have sent Jake Peavy to New York for Phil Hughes and Melky Cabrera.

It's not going to happen, though that would have been worth doing from the Yankees' perspective. Peavy, who is two years away from free agency, might become available next winter. The Padres will want to keep him for 2008. Nov. 8 - 1:17 pm et

Report: Angels after Marlins' Cabrera

The Angels are showing the heaviest interest in Miguel Cabrera, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.

The Marlins are insisting that Howie Kendrick be involved in the deal, which is smart on their part. If they received him, they could move Dan Uggla to third base and improve their infield defense considerably. The Angels would prefer to make Brandon Wood a center piece of the deal. If they could get Cabrera for Wood, Ervin Santana and Jeff Mathis, they'd have to jump. The Marlins, though, should target Jered Weaver over Santana if they're not going to get Kendrick. Also there reports about Santana and the Twins working on a contract....and possibly Garrett Atkins getting moved...hopefully to The Phils:yay:

eh, i'll wait and see how this turns out. i still don't buy into the whole pujols thing. i seriously doubt one homer is going to permanently derail a pro player's career.

i forgot about atkins. man, all these other 3Bs are really going to dilute a-rod's market. i hope nobody offers him over $25 million a year and he has to sit this season out. that probably won't happen, but a guy can dream.

On report from a GM stated many believe Arod's market value to fall in the $23-25 Million category...Many believe he should have taken the Yanks offer.

Mike Lowell is close to resigning with The Sox

he probably should have. there's absolutely no way he's worth the $28-$35 million he's asking for. no team should be stupid enough to offer him that with other good thirdbasemen available. man, i hope this backfires on him and boras.

The thing is that all the 3Bs being discussed like Cabrera, Crede, and Atkins aren't FA's.

true, but they're still on the market via trade, which lessens the value of a-rod. if a team has the choice of doling out $30 mil a year for 8 years on a 32 year-old player or trading two or three good young prospects for another, younger player of slightly less value at a fraction of the cost with less risk due to a shorter contract, i'd go with the cheaper option and use the money saved to fill other holes in the roster. giving teams that option hurts a-rod's chances of getting the big contract he's looking for.

so my brother (a twins fan...he's the rebel in the family) was b!tching about the Twinkies letting go of Santana, but I thought I read on ESPN.com they were trying to keep him.
Anyone have any news??

They're taking offers but likely won't trade him.

Ask him which he'd prefer: The Twins keep him, play a season with no hitting and only pitching and let Santana walk and get only 2 draft picks OR trade him now and get 3 good, young players that they have for 5+ years?

I could, but you see, logic doesn't work on him. It just purterbs him into screaming about how the Red Sox suck. He's odd.

Thanks for the update...I'm a little behind lately...

Sounds like he's being a Twins fan to be a contrarion.

wow I read on mlb.com that ned Coletti The GM for the dodgers offered Matt Kemp, James Loney, and Chad Billingsley for Miguel Cabrera!

WTH! kemp, ok, I can understand but Loney and Bills! These two are un-tradeable. Especially loney!

yeah, that sounds like overkill to me. all three of those guys look like future studs. i've heard that kemp might turn out to be the best of the three. why does the dodger management undervalue their young players so much? it seems like they're constantly trying to get rid of laroche, but from everything i've read, he's got a good shot at turning into a very good player.

Cause the Dodgers front office are idiots. Have been for the last 17 years. See the, Pedro trade and Piazza trade and huge contracts to washed up players.

But, I give Ned Credit for not trading the players yet, But I fear the pressure to fix the 3rd base hole will lead to him making a nervous move like the Pierre signing or the Loaiza signing.

GMs of teams that need to take that next step to be really good need to stop overvaluing prospects and trade them for impact players. Take the Dodgers for example. They should trade for Miguel Cabrera. All of a sudden they'd be the best team in the NL West.

why get rid of three cheap, young players who could all be great for the next ten years for one currently great player who can't lay off the cheeseburgers, sucks on defense, and will be up for a huge contract within 2 years?

No wonder the Dodgers cant win
