If they get the game in tonight then I will stand corrected, the forecast says otherwise though. I'm still comfortable with Myers, Moyer or Blanton who all pitched very good.

They will get this game in come Hell or high water. There is no way MLB is going to postpone again to tomorrow. It will screw up the tickets for Game 6 and 7. Remember, it's 2.5 innings, not an entire game. They will get it in. The only thing that could make them postpone it again is a hurricane or hail/snow storm.

3.5 innings

Local radio guy (Howard Eskin) said the game is postponed till tomorrow. Official announcement at 2.

Game Five of the 2008 World Series postponed

PHILADELPHIA - Game Five of the 2008 World Series will not resume tonight due to inclement weather. Game Five is now tentatively scheduled to resume on Wednesday evening at 8:37 p.m. (ET), weather permitting.
Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig said: "While obviously we want to finish Game Five as soon as possible, the forecast for today does not allow for us to continue the game this evening. We are closely monitoring tomorrow's forecast and will continue to monitor the weather on an hourly basis. We will advise fans as soon as we are able to make any final decisions with respect to tomorrow's schedule."

What a mess this WS has been. Maybe MLB will finally a) play WS day games during the day. b) Not drag the post-season out for an entire month with the off-days.

They also need to change the umpires. This strikezone is probably the smallest in a WS ever.

Bingo. What a joke it has been.

I agree 100% on both. This is football weather, not baseball.

I don't know if you were listening to WFAN this morning... but Joe Beningo was an idiot for saying that. It can rain any time of the day... shortening the post season does not change that.

Playing during the day IMO has more to do with people being able to watch the games completely rather then fall asleep because the game ends at 2.

LOL

Someone on the Phils was none to pleased with Selig...

Any guesses on who said it? Hamels? Moyer? Joe "Badass" Blanton?

Clay Condrey or maybe Erye...both seem unstable at times:cwink:

Duh. Only an idiot would have that haircut.

He looked ridiculous last night...the rain and wind tore him up :)

And that has nothing to do with rain so why people are putting the two together is ******ed.

His haircut is like Jim Carrey's in Dumb and Dumber aged 40 years.

You aren't getting. If you play a game earlier, then you have more time to get the game in on that day. Take Saturday for example. Weather was fine during the day. It started raining in the evening and pushed a 8pm start time to 10pm when no one cared enough to watch.

If you have it start in the afternoon, then you can get the game in. If it's raining, you have a much larger window to get the game in during that day. Besides, it would only be the Saturday game that is on during the game. Though it wouldn't kill them to start a game at 7:30pm.

And with fewer offdays, there are many benefits. 1) People don't lose interest because of how many days between games and series. 2) There's no hangover from all the days off for teams that win a series in fewer games. 3) If you have an incident like this again, there's more days in October to get it in. That way you don't have to play a game in November.

It has to be Brett Myers.

So it's gonna rain on the one or two afternoon games but not the night games??? Beningo at his worst...

You really don't get it.

There's no reason for MLB not to have the Saturday WS game on the in the afternoon. One of the advantages is with regards to the rain. If it rains before the game, there is a much bigger window to still get the game in during that day and not have to start it at 10pm. If there is rain forecast later in the evening, they could still get the game in.

This is the last post I'm explaining it. If you still don't get it, you're on your own.

I am not saying it's not gonna give you more flexibility... but if you are getting rain that week... there is probably a less than 20% chance it falls on that afternoon day... it doesn't make much of a difference.
