I really wish Snyder would stop using superlatives when describing his upcoming work. It's always "the biggest, and most epic" with him. This doesn't mean I dislike his Batman stories (quite the opposite actually, I loved the first Court of Owls book and DOTF) but he always hypes it up to a point where many readers walk away disappointed. With that being said, I'm still very excited about Endgame.

I am not sure i like the new status quo they are trying to establish with futures end (I loved everything up to forever evil but futures end has lost me) but i don't know. I really dug Batgirl: Futures End.

Considering the nature of the story, I doubt any of it is status quo. It'll be like any other future storyline and just be fixed at some point.

Yeah... he literal destroyed Gotham in his last arc with Riddle. It's getting stupid... because within the last issue everything from the city, to the villain, and Batman are back to status quo.

At least with NML, Knightfall, and so forth you felt the ramifications for years afterwords. Nothing from DotF/Owls/Zero has been felt even into the next issue.

Batman: Futures End was great !!!

Finally something close to Morrison goodness.

A very nice tie-in/prequel to that Year 200 story in the special Detective Comics #27 issue.

so endgame will be the biggest thing evar, until the next arc.

I have a question. I started out getting most of the Bat books when the nu52 started, then just stuck with Nightwing. My question is, has Dick's "death" been mentioned at all in any of the Bat books besides Grayson? Did they show Batgirl or Alfred reacting to his "death" or any other characters dealing with it?

Really enjoyed Detective Comics this week. Some great art. And quite a neat little set-up with the Airport quarantine.

you don't get to see them mourning, but they kinda adress it in batman eternal and batman and robin. Very briefly though.

That seems kinda weak, to me anyway. You would think his alleged death would have had some reaction by the characters who knew him best. Oh well.

Huge props to Mark Doyle, this is a massive high-point for the Batman titles. So much to pull.

Batman:Endgame - Capullo and Snyder are a treasure.
Batman:Eternal - Delivering week after week. (Stephanie is great!)
Grayson - Was apprehensive about this, but now couldn't be more onboard.
Batgirl - The previews look great. Looks to be the rejuvenation Babs needs.
Gotham Academy - Hogwarts in Gotham. That's brilliant.

Add 'tec for this JPL two-parter (can't get into the Manapul stuff though) and it's just a rock solid line-up. Plus there's that supernatural Gotham book coming with the Spectre!

batman 34 was great. Then Snyder is solo again on batman 35, and it destroys you with its monologues. It's awful.

Leon was born to be on a batman title.

I loved Batgirl 35. Don't get me wrong, i adore Gail Simon's Batgirl and Oracle and every bit of seriousness and drama that comes along with Babs but this was fresh, naive and pretty great. I thought i would be angry over this but it was so relaxing and fun to read.

So why do you continue to spend your money/read Snyder's Batman if it seems to bother you so much?

I thought Batman 35 was a great intro to Endgame. If you haven't been a fan of Snyder at this point, it probably won't change your mind.

The only thing that irks me at times with Snyder is the villian monologues... Dr. Death's speech during Zero Year was particularly mind-numbing.

Apart from that, he's fine.

I didn't like Batman 35. His Joker is weird. I was so let down by Death in the Family and Joker's sort of past reveal in Zero Year that i'm just going to skip every Snyder Joker centric story. Unless is something VERY special.

I'm convinced now that Snyder's Batman is basically Scott Snyder as a kid in a very overwhelming candy store. He can't muster any kind of restraint and DC doesn't seem to be doing anything to reel him in. He overdoes it with Batman.

I say this because Wytches #1 was ****ing awesome and so incredibly well-written that the "kid in a candy store" is the only analogy that makes sense to explain his Batman.

Maybe it's more a case of Snyder being a better horror writer than superhero writer but that doesn't quite explain Black Mirror(which, to be fair, had the perfect balance of both). Maybe he just needs to work with Jock more. There seems to be a very natural flow to his writing when Jock is illustrating.

Because I'm a batfan, so I want to have a complete collection. I won't let a team whose work I'm not too fond of make me abandon a character whose mythos I love so much. Also, I did like black mirror, so I'm always cautiously optimistic, and I try to believe some of their stuff can click with me. Like I've said several times, I enjoy Eternal a lot.

I also agree with CrimsonMist post.

I tried to read Batman #35 but couldn't even make it to the second page. Snyder's long winded narrations tend to grind my gears because they're usually so unbearable to read through.

On the upside at least Batgirl is interesting again for the first time in 3 years. Gotham Academy was also a pretty solid read in it's own right. Those will be the only bat family books I plan on sticking with for the time being.

His Joker is weird.

Yeah. I couldn't even finish Death of the Family and The Joker appearance in The Black Mirror is by far the worst part of that entire story. Completely derails it and seems superfluous as hell. If this new arc is just going to be more of Snyder's Joker then I'm glad that I ignore that book like the plague right now.
