I love Scott Snyder's Batman stories and I think he is an excellent writer. I cannot wait for the final part of Endgame. I really enjoy his characterisation of both Batman and The Joker and I think he really gets both characters and has done them justice. His Joker is perhaps my favourite version of the character or at least up there with my very favourite versions.

I was watching an Interview with Scott Snyder where he described Slott's ''Superior Spider-man'' as a love letter to Peter Parker, I t believe this is what he has in mind with his upcoming arc

Loved the issue as always. Waiting for the usuals to come in here and complain about how they hated it and hate Snyder. And yet they continue to buy and read all of it. If you hate it so much why bother buying and reading any of it? I know it's coming so just getting that out there before it does.

Over the years, I have read my fair share of Batman comics, but nothing in terms of artwork and storytelling have quite been able to match the Snyder-Capullo run. Endgame is like the end of a Batman quadrilogy, effectively bringing all the pieces that had been sofar established into a cohesive whole. I loved Alfred's epilogue at the end, as well as the visual imagery of the god-like armor being thrown into the garbage. Overall, Snyder-Capullo have always managed to supersede my expectations, and i hope that they continue doing that.

Zero Year may just be one of the definitive Batman arcs of all time (according to me anyways). No other writer (atleast the ones I have read: Adams, Morrison, Miller, Loeb) has managed to quite unpack the psyche of Batman's character. I loved how Snyder would create discordant element in one issue, and then peel it back in another one.

In short :P, I think they are doing a great job and I hope that they continue to deliver.

Batman 40 is probably my favorite issue from this arc. Very strong and dynamic. I wasn't really a fan of this new Robo-Batman direction initially, but now I just have to know what happens next.

I hate to say this, but I think Zero Year is a more effective origin story than Year One. Year one was mostly about Gordon; this went to the core of what makes Batman Batman.

If I had to rank all the Snyder arcs, they would go like this:

1. Zero Year (9/10)
2. Endgame (9/10)
3. Death of the Family (8.5/10)
4. The Court of Owls (8/10)

40 has the same problem as all the other Snyder storys...a underwhelming ending.

Im unsure how to judge Endgame, the art and design is fantastic...some of the ideas are awesome.
But i dont know, it feels like there could have been more...it somehow feels like DOTF in many things.
Maybe the final part of DOTF was some kind of foreshadowing for endgame.

I really liked the final battle between the joker and batman, it was brutal and violent.
The two of them fighting in gothams caves till death, is a nice idea.

With 40 my run with snyders batman ends now, the whole idea of this robot batman and stuff...is nothing for me.
Either bruce wayne is batman or nobody, so i will look for what comes in the future and save me some money.
(It gives me time to buy older comics, since i dont read anything else...because it all sucks imo)

I respect your decision but got to ask, aren't Snyder and Capullo in a perfect position to do whatever they want with their final act (artistic freedom and all that) because they've earned that right with first 40 issues of Batman? In short, I won't comment on any of crazy rumors for final ten issues because I don't have a proper context right now; Morrison was even crazier and I loved his Batman run.

Of course they are.

I love most of what they did, DOTF and COO was fantastic until the final act of those stories.
Snyders approach on batmans first "year" was nice imo, until the whole utopic gotham setting and all that.

I really appreciate that Snyder tries some different things, but to me they sometimes feel a bit forced and dont match what he is capable of.

Snyder seems to have his storys planned out very far, that is a good thing...but it doesnt always fits my taste.

I do want those two continue to work together for a long time, seeing them approach Freeze,Two Face,Penguin,The Court again etc(maybe even the justice league) would be sweet.

do the other bat family know that Dick is alive now? From what I read of Eternal, all of them are under the assumption that Dick's dead. Now that Dick was the stand-in Batman whilE Bruce enacts the real plan, would they find out now?

Now would the events of Endgame's conclusion make it's way into Darkseid War?

Snyder's had a lot of highs and lows in his run, but 40 was definitely a high, I think. It's a little bittersweet, because I have almost no interest in the "All-New" Batman, but I really enjoyed the finale and the way [blackout]Batman and Joker went down.[/blackout]

I liked it, especially in terms of wrapping up the New 52 Batman as we know it. Unlike Death of the Family this had a payoff. The fight was brutal.

And, the art was gorgeous.

But, I just don't like the writing. So, little plot and too drawn out existential monologues. Every character is so full of themselves...

Also, what is your opinion on everything being so brutal lately? I love dark and gritty but it seems so much more like horror or grotesque lately in the batbooks and the DC stuff. It's too heavy and odd since they're trying so hard with the New 52/What ever this next reboot is called to get the new and young readers...

People bag on the 90's for getting so dark but there was never this much "blood" even in JPV hey-day as AzBats. Yeah, he killed a lot of people but it was more PG-13. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with it but seems counterproductive to DC's plan to aim towards the youth and not to us, the long lasting adults.

Lately? Comics have been this "heavy" in the way you're saying for a long time. Anyone who has been reading comics from either company for the last 15-20 or so years could tell you that.

Endgame was brilliant, I loved it. Snyder and Capullo have done great work. I loved Court of Owls, Zero Year, Death of the Family and all of their shorter stories also. If Endgame was literally the last ever Batman story then I feel that it would have been a fitting and worthy send-off. I loved Snyder's version of The Joker and I liked how Snyder gave hints at who he thought he was before he became The Joker. Zero Year really did tell us a lot about Joker in that regard. Their are certain writers who I respect and rate highly and I consider most of their opinions and stories to be canon and Snyder is one of them and if he gave a definitive Joker origin then I would consider it to be canon. Give me Snyder's sadistic and outright evil Joker who hates everyone and everything and sees life as meaningless over the goofy, mischievous and "insane" (that's right, not evil, just "insane") version of Joker that is sometimes used in stories. That is definitely how I like Joker to be written/portrayed personally.

I also love Snyder's take on why The Joker calls himself "The Joker". Him being someone who sees life as meaningless and empty and as nothing more than a "joke" is very interesting and clever and makes him a more formidable and serious foe than him mainly being a prankster.
