This past week, I read through Volume 1 of The Batgirl of Burnside and read the first issues of Gotham Academy and Grayson. Batgirl was great, and I really enjoyed GA and Grayson. I'm looking forward to reading more in the coming weeks.

Grayson has been really awesome. Currently one of the best DC books for me.

The latest issue really felt James Bond'ish.

Seriously.

I completely loathed him going back to Nightwing after Batman in that awful New 52 Nightwing series. It was so boring and uneventful and reeked of a man child trying to live a 2nd childhood.

This **** here though? Tim Seeley and Tom King get my respect for all time for getting the one character that has traditionally evolved his status quo since 1940 to actually progress forward yet again. As opposed to stumbling backwards in limbo like they had him doing for a while there.

It's easily the greatest thing to happen to Richard Grayson since he was Batman.

I might have to pick up Grayson, I've always been a fan of Dick and I couldn't get into his last Nightwing series.

I stopped reading nightwing after a few issues. It was bland and boring, and it lacked that magic dick touch ^^

I like how Grayson has its own identity, but it also has weird stuffs almost morrisonian.

I read the 1st issue of Grayson and I loved it. I bought the 1st paperback trade on Friday so I can't wait to really dig into this series.

I must be in the minority here then because I LOVED the Nightwing series (specifically the first year or so of it while Barrows was drawing) but am really bored of Grayson. I like Janin's art, but the story isn't doing anything for me. It has it's moments, yes, but overall I miss the Nightwing title.

I won't discuss your preference, because all of us have our own opinion, but don't you think Dick characterization in Grayson is more consistent with how he's been portrayed before the new 52 than his characterization in nightwing?

Dick/Nightwing from 1998 to 2003-4 was amazing, and was only great again during Morrison's run when he became Batman and the follow through/relationship with Damian.

Grayson, just seems like a comic book Bond. It's "decent" but not how/what I want Dick to be doing.

It doesn't help that 'Nightwing' was ruined with Turantuala chick and then the whole cross-over controversies of under-using and abusing his book pre /or/ post 52.

how do you want Dick to be doing? also, it has to be noted he should soon be interacting more with other heroes.

To be honest, I don't think DC will give Dick the level of relevance he deserves until they find some way to make him Robin again. It's clear that the current regime dosen't care for the Nightwing concept, and this spy stuff might only be temporary.

it will probably be temporary, but at least it shows they want to make him more relevant than "batman lite".

Thing is, Nightwing wasn't "Batman lite" until he went to Bludhaven. While Dixon' run was good, it pretty much helped create that perception of the character, IMO.

I actually didn't read a whole lot of Dick pre-New 52 save for Morrison's run when he became Batman. So I honestly don't have a great concept of how he was prior to that. I just know I enjoyed the stories and character portrayal better in the New 52 Nightwing title than in the Grayson book.

I'm all caught up with Grayson. So far, I think it's solid. I think Dick is an engaging and likable lead, and there's not a supporting character that I dislike. I have no real issues with the plot, and the art is a real treat. It feels a bit full of itself at times, and I don't think the dialogue always flows as well as it should, but it's a fun read that I intend to stick with the the forseeable future.

I never saw Dick as "Batman lite," even through Dixon's series, where that argument would be the strongest. I always saw him as "Batman if he weren't such an obsessive prick." Which I think is what the point of Dick should be.

I'm alright with this to be honest. I loved this team on Flash but haven't really felt it for Detective Comics. It's been okay, but I think I'd rather someone else give it a go.
