The Dark Knight Official Critics Reviews of TDK

88% is still pretty damn high. It's not about what the critics think anyways. You can come to the decision on whether or not it's the best comic book movies ever made. :yay:
It_will_get_higher!

Why are people making it sound like this is a final score?... I will bet my white ass, that ones this baby opens next week, rotten will drown in hyper positive reviews for this film (with the occasional bad ones)! Final score will be between 95-100%!

yet another gushing review. cant wait for this thread to explode once everyone has seen it. all our post counts belong to nolan.

LOL did the video blog just praise... Christian Slater? Haha. I give him a pass. Seemed like he literally just got out of the theaters and had his head spinning.

yeah seriously. the hyperbole is getting to me, we're going to run out of adjectives soon.

That video review where the guy was saying it was possibly the best film he has seen in the last five years had me reaching for the tissues.

Seeing it this Thursday at Sydney IMAX which apparently is the biggest screen in the world. :hehe:

Quint, that mortality(?) guy and Harry are all really good critics. They are the best to me because they don't give a movie a rating they just say what they liked and disliked and why they disliked/liked those things and overall if they liked/disliked the movie.

Thats the way it should be done.

So lucky!... IMAX should really expand, and build one in every country!

Damn! Quint really enjoyed the movie! Nice review!

Mark my words: Ledger will be nominated, Wally Pfister will be nominated, Chris Nolan will be nominated for direction, Jonathan and Chris Nolan for script and if the movie Gods are feeling kind early next year we might even see a Best Picture nom.

All this would be amazing!

“Wanna know how I got these scars?”

Can't wait to see this scene!!

Wow, it's cool to see a professional critic as moved by a "popcorn" movie as we all are. The way he's talking about it is how I felt about Batman Begins. And I have a feeling TDK will give me the same feeling all over again. Chris Nolan is the freakin' MAN. Period.
Thats just it this film seems to be just more than that, he called it one of the greatest films his seen in 5 to 10yrs and classed it as one of the greatest film moments of his life.

Did it occure to anyone that the people who give this movie bad reviews are right wing Republican/Conservative scumbags who notice that the movie takes shots at the Bush Administrations Illegal Wiretapping/Escalation of war etc...?

So the lovefest is over and the film is getting some "negative" reviews and will probably get a few more. SO WHAT?!?! This film is art. Art is VERY subjective. Just because someone doesn't like the film, doesn't mean they have some secret agenda against Nolan. It also doesn't mean they need to be demonized. I know some people who HATE The Beatles. To me, thats unthinkable...but everyone has different tastes. I could see where someone might be turned off by the film being so dark. I personally love the approach...but a lot of people simply just wont get it.

The Dark Knight boldly deconstructs and resurrects the superhero movie, confidently allowing the comic book genre to soar beyond superficial assumptions and transcend new heights as a legitimate, epic, philosophical narrative. The highly anticipated sequel to Batman Begins is surely not without its faults and hardly a “masterpiece,” but nonetheless it rightfully breaks new ground in tackling the much derided and mocked “comic” culture with a mature, intense sophistication; one that refuses to carelessly disavow the question, “What if a billionaire really did fight crime dressed like a giant bat?” Talented and intelligent filmmaker Christopher Nolan answers the question as philosophical meditation on morality, with an ethical code and moral boundaries as defining the nature of heroism and identity all amidst the vast backdrop of an old fashioned crime “epic” – oh, and with tons of massive explosions and excellent special effects, too.

Wow. Where to start... I saw The Dark Knight in Imax tonight. It more than lived up to my expectations. It was obviously inspired by equal parts The Killing Joke and Batman: Year One.

Whatever you think you know from the trailers... throw it out. It's a world without rules. Batman Begins was dark, but this movie makes it look like Mary freakin' Poppins.

INTENSE... That's the single best word for it. From beginning to end. So many twists and turns. There were so many scenes that had me tense up that I was physically exhausted at the end. It's a dark study in what makes us humans and how fragile our humanity is.

Ledger WILL get an Oscar nomination. I have no doubts. He really, really scared me. Not jumping out from the bushes scary, but really deeply terrifying. I have never seen a movie villain I could compare him to. Every laugh he got from the audience was tense laughter. An, "I'm not sure I should be laughing at this" laugh. Amazing what Chris Nolan allowed him to do with the character. I think my own misanthropic tendencies made me a little nervous watching what the Joker did with his. Terrifying.

Look for a special cameo by Sen. Patrick Leahy. No... really.

Go. Buy your tickets. NOW.

I loved the film on so many different levels, but most of those levels are pretty complex. First of all, The Dark Knight is more of a crime drama than a comic book movie. There are some really great action sequences, but a majority of the film's most interesting moments are within the drama between the characters. It is very character driven and some of the explorations of the characters, mostly The Joker, are very disturbing and downright frightening.

Regular readers of this blog don't need the reminder that the Fien Print ratings scale is absurd. Friends have certainly mocked me for the proliferation of ratings in the mid-60s that have filled the summer months so far.

My response? I wasn't going to over-praise a mediocrity like "Iron Man" or "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" just to expand my ratings limits.

The reality is that Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" is more than 20 mythical ratings points better than those two movies I listed or, for that matter, better than any other movie I've seen so far this year. The risk with a movie this good is overhyping it to the degree that people come out saying, "I was expecting cinema and all I got was a comic book movie." So I'll say that I'm prepared to call "The Dark Knight" the finest comic book movie ever made and I would expect with some confidence to find it in my overall Top Five at the end of the year.

Quite simply: While "The Dark Knight" isn't without flaws, it is what you hope it will be.

The Dark Knight is, without a doubt, the greatest “Superhero or Comic Book” film ever made. The Dark Knight just might be the best film I’ll see all year. Yes, I am an unabashed Batman fan, but you know what... The Dark Knight might be one of the best crime / drama films ever made.

See this film. Then ask yourself. How far are you willing to go?
