The Dark Knight Official Critics Reviews of TDK

ive noticed a lot of the critics giving negative reviews obviously have no clue about the batman universe. how can they possibly say two face is copying chigurh with the coin tossing thing? absolute idiocy and ignorance!!!! how can these people be taken seriously if they cant be bothered to research the character even a little bit? seriously even just watching batman forever would dispell that hes copying chigurh!! arrsseehoolees!

It's only got about 50 more reviews left to add to the total. Only 2 or 3 will be rotten and it should stay at 94% or possibly 96% and even 97% is a possibility at this point.

94%
149 good, 10 bad
8.5 rating

It will get to 95% for sure. 97% might be a long shot but it could reach it if random, unknown critics stop nitpicking the film because of its run time or similarities to other films. Regardless, if it stays at 94% or higher it will be the best reviewed comic book movie on rotten tomatoes.

Wow, that´s almost LOTR level of praise.

Complains that the movie is too dark and claims Two-Face is a rip-off of Anton Chigurh. Automatically has zero credibility with me for those two "criticisms," neither of which are valid -- especially the second one which is a flat-out lie. The facts do not support it in any way whatsoever. Not only is TF decades older than Anton, but TDK was done filming before NCFOM ever came out.

Yeah, some people need to get their facts straight, has this dude been in a cave for the last 70 years or so?

A rave review by Manohla Dargis in The New York Times:

"filled with thrilling moments of pure cinema"

The Joker is "a demonic creation and three-ring circus of one wholly inhabited by Heath Ledger"

"In its grim intensity, 'The Dark Knight' can feel closer to David Fincher's 'Zodiac' than Tim Burton's playfully gothic 'Batman,' which means it's also closer to Bob Kane's original comic and Frank Miller's 1986 reinterpretation. That makes it heavy, almost pop-Wagnerian, but Mr. Ledger's performance and the film's visual beauty are transporting.... No matter how cynical you feel about Hollywood, it is hard not to fall for a film that makes room for a shot of the Joker leaning out the window of a stolen police car and laughing into the wind, the city's colored lights gleaming behind him like jewels. He's just a clown in black velvet, but he's also some kind of masterpiece."

WoW devin gave TDk a 8.5

well played sir well played I salute Thee:brucebat:

Dude, dont salute him, he gives the movie one rating, but downtalks it like he graded it two points lower in the written review. And he is still dissing fanboys.

Our local critic (Jack Garner), who retired in 2007, got a chance to do a special once-in-a-great-while review for TDK and gave it a 10/10.

If the Academy wouldn't have so many prejudices against comic book movies, The Dark Knight should easly be nominated for an Oscar. So far, it's one of the best/or the best movie of the year.

Begins had almost 250 so it has around 90 left.
Let's hope they're all positive so it can get 97%/8.6 on the Tomatometer, that way it can surpass 'Iron Man' by a long shot(hell, even 'No Country For Old Men').

I don't think RT has even added Chicago Reader's positive review...and it's one of their Top Critics! They've got a lot of work to do on that site.

hey all, first post but have been lurking around these pages for over a year following the filming and hype of this movie!! A longtime batman fan.

Just thought i'd mention (since I have not seen this posted elsewhere), the dark knight is currently #4 in imdb's all time top 250 list!!!

Behind only the godfather, the shawshank redemption and godfather II. Granted the dark knight only has about 4,500 votes so far vs. the 300,000 or so votes it'll end up having. But just thought i'd mention it. Hopefully it'll stay in the top 20 at least once the dust settles.

wow. It should be said though that all big blockbusters start with high ratings. Even Indy 4 had an 8.8 rating at one point. after a couple of months they go down a bit. But i wouldn't expect this to leave the top 20 anytime soon.

Leonard Maltin didn't like the film. But don't be too hard on him, he's a good guy. Frankly, he just couldn't take the darkness of the film and is very honest about that. I can respect that:

Maltin is a goofball and I'm sure he liked the departed, godfather 2, heat, and no country for old men, but he doesn't like TDK?

Yeah okay....
