Official Early Bought/Thought Thread **SPOILERS**

You responded to a year old post to make a lame JQ joke. Aren't there like 87 other threads that you could do that in? Seriously.

I didn't know it was a year old in the first place, and sure didn't bump it.

Because it's not the Official (weekly) one. It's the Early one (that I use when I get my subs early.)

Hey guys, it's the Early B/T. I don't mind you posting here ( I really don't), but someone always gets their nose out of joint because of it. I have no idea why. The good news is, who ever is fastest gets to make the Official one this week (c'mon Marc, you know you want to).

Nah, it's cool. I looked for whatever people were posting in. I would have started one, but it seemed kind of stupid.

I can guarantee you that by the end of the week (probably day), someone will ***** about me making this thread (a year ago). But, what's a forum w/o *****ing?

I always wondered why there needed to be a thread like this in the first place. I thought it was you trying to get there first or something lame like that. I'd just see this and go "Well, now, who in the hell is in such a rush to tell us about his comics that he can't wait until we've got them too?"

Now I'm just confused :(

Less than a day.

It's mostly because of the spoilers. I don't want to post it in other threads, and I didn't want to start B/T threads early. It was mostly so people coming in would definately want to read the spoilers. Because, you know, it's EARLY!

Yeah...I still don't see why this is relevant. Whatever floats your boat.

I don't understand what your problem with it is. If you have a problem with it, don't come in the thread. If you hate people discussing DC comics, well, don't go in a DC thread.

It's very easy. Sometimes I get comics early. When I mention I got this or that, sometimes, people ask for details. I thought it would be easier to dump them all in one thread. Is it really that difficult? Or you afraid that I'm taking bandwidth away from the many, varied, and unique threads about how JQ should be lynched? Because we can do that here, too.

What problem? I already said I was confused as to why this thread is necessary, when people can hide the spoilers revealed in the issue in which they happen to be sharing their thoughts about.

And yes, I know some people are asses and don't put up spoiler tags, but then, that's why you just avoid things like reviews or Bought/Thought threads.

This thread just seems like an act on your part to stake claim on something. Again, I've already said that I was confused. Then even after your explanation, I mentioned how I felt about threads like this and closed out with "Whatever floats your boat", which means I don't really care, as long as you're satisfied.

If people want details, why not make them wait? The "Spoilers" disclaimer is tempting enough for people who'd just rather wait and read the comics them selves. We all know this.

"Whatever floats your boat", which means I don't really care, as long as you're satisfied.

See, I think you're upset that I questioned the logic behind your thread's existence. It seems like a sensitive subject for you, so yes, I'll unsubscribe if it makes you feel any better. :word:

Well, at the risk of sending Xofenroht into some kind of conniption:

Amazing Spider-Man #547 -
One of those times that I wished I wouldn’t have seen a preview page, because I think I would have laughed out loud at that splash page of Pete giving JJJ CPR. Pete tries to track down his one webshooters, while his friends and Aunt May are busy judging him. Mr. Negative uses the stone (which isn’t the same as the old one- that one gave life, this one gives death) to mix up a formula that he’s going to use against some NY crime bosses. Spidey tries to warn them, but they’re gangsters, so they all try to shoot him (not the most well thought-out plans on Pete’s part) All of them are gassed and Spidey dies (well, that’s what they said!)

Some nice touches are the references to continuity present (registration, Swing Shift, and what The Hood is up to), and past (that damn stone that I still can’t remember the name of…)

I know... I thought it had a better name as well...

:csad:

Fantastic Four #553 - I get the feeling that a lot of people were kind of meh on McDuffie's run, probably owing a lot to the temporary addition of Black Panther and Storm (which I wish would have lasted a little longer.) This is his last issue before Millar and Hitch take the reigns (a sign of the future, my sub came with a note saying that it's going from an All Ages rating to a Teen rating). So on with the review:

The last chapter of the time travel story. It starts out with a lesson about time travel in the MU (on a chalkboard, almost as if Reed were teaching this to 1st graders.) The rest of the issue is the old FF trying to convince the young FF that Doom is trying to change History, and that he's somewhat lying. There's an undercurrent of the old FF already going through this event. Reed and Sue eventually figure out what the whole story is, and it involves a revelation about time travel in the MU: History can be changed for a particular timeline. Time will "fix" itself. The example they give is that if the Lincoln assassination was prevented he would slip in the bathtub a few days later and die. Only if the change were big enough to be unfixable would an alternate timeline be created. McDuff does a pretty decent job shoehorning the explanation for this pretty conceptual idea in between action. In the end, It's revealed that Reed has done exactly what he's claimed: Plan #101 has created a Utopia, (which young FF have decided to implement, leading into Millars run) and it sticks in Dooms craw, because He's supposed to be humanity's savior. So Reed finds an alternate timeline to send him to where all the heroes are killed because of World War Hulk. Here Doom can be their savior.

Thoughts: I love time travel, and I think this was a nice wrap up to McDuffie's run. I think Doom was portrayed a little wimpily, and I think it was a stretch that they'd[BLACKOUT] send him to rule any world, no matter how bad of shape it were in[/BLACKOUT], but I'll accept it. Looking forward to the new team...

Yeah, the upgraded rating to teen gives me a bad feeling (lots of blood, and gore, and veins in my teeth), but I honestly like what they did on Ultimates. I hope they try to replicate that same quality of work, without writing the same sort of "adult" storylines.

From what I understand this FF will tie into he ultra violent wolverine in the future mini (which I will read especially seeing it's based on clint). And he did mention this will be the most violent thing he's ever written, so yeah, it'll be lots of intestines hanging out of slowly dying bodies. Basically it's exactely what you want an FF story to be.

Well, it's a nice thought, but somehow I don't see Millar changing his style up too much for the FF. He thrives on shock tactics and violence is excellent for delivering shocks. Hell, we've already seen a cover where Ben is crying over Johnny and Sue's bullet-riddled bodies.

I don't know anything about this mini. Do you mean Hawkeye?

I don't like that direction for the FF, but Millar/Hitch get at least a couple of issues from me.
