So some shyt that AICN said about a month ago looks to be panning out true. AICN mentioned that the source of the Surfer's power is his board(that's utter BS) and that Ulitimate Ga lak tas will be used and not the true 616 Galactus. People want to dismiss AICN, but like I said AICN is wrong more often then not except for when it comes to FOX.
It seems to be Doom in human form but it is never made clear. We know we've seen a pic of Ben with Doom in human form pressed against a wall. In the book it is never clear: at times it seems he is in human form, at others he has the metal skin, and I'm not sure if he's EVER in his armor so so much for "full-on Doom" if that is true!
The book HAS to be missing some details. Check out the description on page 140.
The author mentions Doom's "mangled, damaged face" and a little later his "silver throat"
Just from that description and the photo we've seen, we KNOW that the author - in at least this one case - is not describing Doom as he actually appears . . . for whatever reason.
Now let's consider these quotes from Tim Story:
I am busy working away at all the concept art and most recently the design for Doom. I saw the maquette today of what the improved Doom will look like and he's everything I 've wanted him to be. Many have stated their disappointment with the lack of "evil" ness in the last movie and I'd be lying if I said I was able to do everything I set out to do, but this time, there will be the plotting and the fighting and technology. He's just as smart as Reed, or as he would say, smarter and I'm going to represent that in the movie big time. Julian is on board and wants to have just as much fun in making him "that villian" we all know and love, or should I say hate. I'm wrestling right now with the cape issue and trying to have it but not let it get in the way of him fighting. He's not going to just shoot beams of power this time. He goes toe to toe with a really big surprise.
My 2nd Unit director Ej Forrester was showing me storyboards on a sequence we have in the movie that involves Doom, and we're determined to have him blowing up ****! Wait until you see the mask! The armor!
And Julian McMahon:
And then the final costume is this pretty amazing costume. It's a similar kind of mask. It's kind of a larger type of fit and probably a little more sturdy kind of look to it. The chest plate, it's a very heavy outfit. It weighed about 45 -50 pounds whatever without the cape and stuff but its pretty extraordinary. It's a darker suit than the one he had last time its kind of more Batmanesque in a way, but with the mask its obviously very Dr. Doom, and it's a great looking outfit and he's got like a ..God, I can't remember. Look, I got so many outfits its ridiculous. [laughs]
It makes no logical sense that such detailed comments would be "lies".
Clearly there is some disconnect, for some reason, between the Novel and Doom's actual appearance in the film.
One possibility is that the book was written from an outdated script. Another possibility is the book was written from the actual script but the author wasn't properly informed of Doom's actual appearances. It's also possible that they intentionally wanted to keep Doom's appearance secret and the differences are partly intentional.
Whatever the reasons, we can say - with some certainty - that the book doesn't properly describe Doom's appearance based on the discription on page 140 and the photo we've seen.
They don't really fight them. They're too busy with Doom, and besides, there are too many. It would be like swatting at locusts. You might kill a few, but it wouldn't really change anything.
I'm not making my final judgement until I see the movie but by the sound of the book it sounds like they really screwed this movie over. It's as if FOX doesn't want this movie to be any good.

I've really enjoyed what I've read....it may not be exactly source material....but the 4 themselves are totally from the characters of the comics, the story is really cool and I think IF IT IS DONE WELL, could be an epic movie.
LMAO, you're doing well not making a final judgement before you see the movie.......
Only to fans of the comic, to the average moviegoer, thats totally plausible.....I didn't know the difference when I read it, and I thought that was cool....
As with many, many of these details, they should really be taken in context. Hearing this little bit or that little bit may not sound like it will work, but in the context of the whole story some of these things will work much better and make much more sense than people give them credit when they just hear a tiny piece.
The important thing about the above detail
is why the Surfer would defy Galactus and save our miserable planet, not how.
While the story has some flaws, there are a lot of very good things in this story that aren't coming up, because they're the kind of things that no one would ever think to ask about . . . but when someone is looking for one particular bit and it's not there they get upset and say: "that's it, this movie is going to suck". I think that's a really short sighted point of view.
If someone reads the book and says: "That really sucked" that's fair. At least they have all the details and context, but even then, we don't know how it will work on screen. We don't know what the actors and cinematographers and sound engineers etc. will do with the words we've read.
Based on the book, the Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer are rendered very faithfully to the comics and this movie will give us a chance to really see the Fantastic Four for the first time.
Are there things that I and others would like to have seen done differently? Sure, but that doesn't mean the film will suck as many people seem to be assuming based on a very little bit of information.

I agree it's great they have his motivations and characterization right,I was just hoping the finale would be more Death star trench run and less Pied Piper of Hamiln

I know you'll give it a fair chance. I was just using you're comment as a springboard to try to put things in perspective for others who may not be as open minded as you.
. . . and as for your spoiler comment . . . don't worry. If the effects guys can pull it off, the last 20 minutes or so should be pretty spectacular.

Well it sounds as if the board is the source of the SS power, which is asinine, and incorrect. Why do these d@mn people feel they need to change stuff? Why?
I don't have a problem with that. The board itself has to have some phenomenal properties itself or why does the Surfer use it?? Have you ever seen a story with him flying without it?
And as I pointed out once before, even Lee and Kirby used it to symbolize the transference of power back to the Surfer after Doom stole it. So despite your views, that concept isn't really as far off the mark as you assert.

Well if you say so. I've never been much good at pre-judging movies, which is why I try not to. Example: Judging by the commercials I thought X3 was going to p'own (sp??) the first to movies. I was wrong.
Perhaps my non-final judgement was a bit to final.
Hmm, good on some points bad on others. I don't mind the Gah Lak Tus thing, but the Doom comments seem mixed and to be honest that's what I was really hopeful for. I'd appreciate it very much if someone could put up the details of the
Final battle with Doom
as well as
How he gets the Power Cosmic and how he returns
If anyone can do so, even via PM, it would be VERY much appreciated.
