Sequels Official Gambit Casting/Speculation Thread [merged-6]

Exactly, he's the only onscreen dude you've seen but what if they cast an unknown actor who absolutely kicks ass as Gambit?

You really need to see Step Up, I'm sorry but Channing Tatums has this swagger about him that screams GAMBIT!!! And I am not a Gambit fan. But, he would make one hell of eye candy on screen and the voice yeah he is Remy all right.

Meh, i actually saw Step Up yesterday and i don't think he'd make a good Gambit. Yeah he's tall but he doesn't have a Gambit face. He's not that good of an actor either if you ask me. I do wonder what he'd look like with long hair. On a side note: Step up is a awful awful movie.

With Gambit you would only need one or two good lines, its all in the body language. And he has those chiseled masculine features. Check him out kind of scruffy in Coach Carter I think it was. And give him a shag hair cut. oh yeah he is gambit

halloway is not gambit at all he is too old,i would rather take channing

This guy would work:

On Channing Tatum

The dude is good looking, let's be reasonable. Except for those ears of his, he's a a perfect male specimen. The reason why I'd accept him for Gambit is the fact that he is kinda hot and as seen in Step Up, the boy can move. He's light on his feet, despite being kinda bulky. So Gambit could look cool while he's kicking ass.

The reason why I don't like Tatum is that yes, the dude can't really act. He does have charisma, but it's a low key, "oh, I'm so pretty and stone-faced" kinda charisma. He's a male model, for crying out loud. :) He was only playing himself in Step Up, and when you do an X-men movie you have to totally separate yourself from the character. I don't wanna see a guy playing himself playing Gambit. I want to see a guy BEING Gambit, like Hugh Jackman was Wolverine. I don't see Tatum pulling that off. I don't think it's impossible, just highly unlikely. He needs loads more experience. I wouldn't be totally disapointed with him, but I definetely think we can do better.

I posted this manip I did in the X-Manips thread in X-Men: TLS forum and my choice for Gambit is Rodrigo Santoro. I think he looks the part and given the appropiate accent, he would be a great Gambit.

That's a pretty good manip. :)
That Santoro... what a great mop of hair. :)

Agreed. I wanna see a guy acting so much like Gambit it's scary. Tatum can move but his acting needs work if he's gonna be Gambit. Seriously, the guy has like one expression trough the whole movie.

Obviously the producers didn't feel that way since he almost got the part. In fact he did get the part. But then again this is fox.
WTF do they know?
:)

Greetings,
I'm new. I fell in love with Gambit (and Rogue) when I was 12. Since then I have always wanted to see John Corbett play him. At the moment I don't have enough posts to give you a picture, but you might remember him from My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Sex in the City and Northern Exposure. He is 6' 5" and gorgeous. Yes, he is about 46 now, but in the 90's he would have been great as Gambit. He played a gambler once so I bet he is proficient at poker, though I don't know if he would have been acrobatic enough for Gambit. But he could just throw a few cards and properly wield the bo staff and he'd be just fine. John Corbett actually looks like Gambit should and he has the charm, the romance, and the ascerbic wit down pat. He's also a good actor. He could contrast with movie Wolverine quite well as a smooth-talking scoundral, Casanova type. Though they did make Wolverine 6' 3" and hot. But unfortunately, John Corbett would maybe be too old. Gambit is supposed to be 27.:meow:

Exactly, if Donner was going to give Tatum the part then he had to of blown them away. I mean with a head of hari, some good eyebrow arches and da good ole creole accent, He's gambit with a bangin body. OMG a body LOL!!! You guys underestimate these people. Everyone hated the choices for Hugh Jackman, they say "Who Jackman". and JAmes Marsden yeah as cyclops. Come on! It was all said the same about them. We have yet to see him given a role to truly act in. And do not deny the swagger LOL!!!

Channing Tatum would probably do just fine. I saw a profile of him in People magazine and he is gorgeous. I just want Gambit in the movies so badly, but I do want him done properly. Good writing and directing are half the equation. Tatum seems physically adept enough to be Gambit and he could handle the accent. He is from the deep south after all. But hey, why not Josh Holloway too. Let's just hope they do Gambit properly and not mess up his background like they did with Rogue. I really do want Romy love on the big screen.

(Flamer, he's Cajun, not Creole.)

That is not bad, but please don't make his power so pink and powdery. It looks like faerie dust.
:)

Do you care about the fact that he's 35 years old? Excellent manips by the way.

Actually, not very much! He looks younger than his age and with good make-up and good lights can look like the other x-boys
